Great Food!

by Radicca

We had a great time. The steak is the best in Denver! The service was attentive, but not overly bothersome.

Great food, Great service!

by ALandeck10

The food is tasty and the staff is friendly. I love their steaks and the portions are huge . You can really get enough food to have leftover lunch tomorrow. Great choice for a nice dinner with a loved one, business partner meetings, and just because.

  • Pros: Great food, Great service, Great location
  • Cons: Parking may cost an extra $10

Food is good, everything else wasn't

by llama9

So overall, this was a let down. I was expecting more for the $40+ I put out. The beer (Dry Stout), salad, cornbread and steak were great! Even though I ordered steak medium rare and it came rare -it was still a great steak! I would of sent it back, but it was 10pm and I was starved! Our waiter was nice, but rather slow and kinda inattentive. The Chophouse definitely fails on atmosphere - it is quite loud due to wood floors, brick wall and a ceiling consisting of exposed pipes. Thank God I was with friends and not on a date! Presentation of table and food was also dissapointing. I understand the rationale for putting a paper table cloth on top of the cloth one, but it has a tacky feel to it! Also, the actual plates themselves look liked something a diner would use. If I had paid $20 or so, I probably wouldn't be complaining, but this was not in line with my Midwestern sense of value....

  • Pros: Steak, drinks, salad
  • Cons: Service, atmosphere, value

GREAT PLACE TO GO!

by qwerdsat

We went to the chophouse for Mother's Day. I had to call ahead and verify they are handicapped accessible for my mom who is in a wheel chair. When I called thery were very polite and made sure we knew there was handicapped parking available for free and the ramp to enter the restaurant. When we arrived they were very courteous and made sure we sat where my mom could easily access. We went for brunch so the prices weren't as high as they would be for dinner. However, my husband ordered the filet minion (about $30) and has talked everyday about how much he enjoyed the meat and how it was perfectly cooked and the bacon that was wrapped around it was the perfect cut. We plan on going back to dinner soon so he can try something else.

I had the steak & cheddar ($10), which is similar to a french dip. It was very good. I enjoyed it very much and had so much food I could only eat half. Both my parents had breakfast meals and enjoyed theirs quite a bit as well. The restaurant was beautiful and we had a perfect table on their porch where we opened the doors and watched the people on the street. I would definitely recommend to go here again. The service was great and my mom thought it was perfect for mother's day.

Pros: handicapped accessible and accomodating, great food, great service, beautiful restaurant

Cons: be prepared to pay about $15-$20/person for brunch and $30+ for dinner

An awesome place for a Christmas Party.

by gnslnger45

This visit was for my wife's company party and a first time visit for both of us. The bacon wrapped filet was one of the best I have ever had; it literally melted in your mouth. Service was fair, if you consider there were around 30 people and only two servers, it was better than fair. This is definitely a place I will return to for a quiet night out away from the kids.

  • Pros: Steaks, appetizers, wine list, attention from staff, pleasant atmosphere
  • Cons: parking, slick floors

Worst experience ever!

by dhanse

My boyfriend and I visited the chophouse after the bronco game on sunday. I've always heard great things about the chop house so I was excited to finally try it. From the begining i could tell that the night was going to be a disaster. Our server was not very friendly and couldn't even take the time to introduce himself. I ordered a cup of coffee and when I got it was cold. After he dropped off our drinks my boyfriend ordered his food and our server started to walk away, I had to practically yell at him that I would take the same. His response was "I assumed you would share." Who honestly shares at a nice restaraunt, where the portions aren't very big. I ordered my steak medium and it came out rare. Our server never came back to make sure the food tasted ok. Someone else took our plates away and I ended up having to take my steak home and cook it myself. Bad food, Bad service would not recommend to anyone!

  • Pros: beautiful restaraunt
  • Cons: Service, food, parking

Gorgonzola filet & a dirty cajun martini...

by bananny

I first visited The Chop House because a good friend of mine is a waiter there and I fell in love with this establishment upon being seated. The atmosphere & the service are phenomenal (not just because I have a friend that works there, I've been there without him). I have tried several dishes ranging from grilled Mahi Mahi with a garlic orange sauce to the gorganzola filet with white cheddar mashed potatoes. Every bite I have had at The Chop House has been delightful. My favorite dish by far is the gorganzola filet.

The versatility of this restaurant is amazing as well. Perfect for a romantic night out, yet also great for a group to get together and enjoy an evening together. Go ahead and indulge yourself! Take a cab, have a few martinis and enjoy!

  • Pros: Amazing food, great service, fabulous atmosphere & killer martinis!
  • Cons: Not a place to eat if you're in a hurry. This is a place you need to plan on spending some time at.

BUSINESS LUNCH

by buffalochef

This locally owned chain restaurant stands above ordinary chain restaurants. Our company as a rule ... takes all our visitors here and have yet to have anything but a good experience. We have literally hosted 100's of visitors to Denver here ordering everything from apps to deserts and everything in between. We always have a table of at least 6-8 and we are ALWAYS treated perfectly. Food Snob would certainly let you know otherwise. I dont think its the most romantic place in town evenings, but it is one of the best business spots day or night.

  • Pros: BUSINESS MEALS, GUYS NIGHT OUT
  • Cons: ROMANCE

A real steakhouse

by cebii

We tried the Denver ChopHouse for the first time on my 60th birthday last month. It was my choice based on posted reviews and the reputation of it being a pro jock haunt. I wanted to see how good the steaks were at a place frequented by those who appreciate a good steak and can afford to go anywhere for one (excluding paid endorsements of course).

Well I was not disappointed! I had the Porterhouse, medium, and my wife the New York strip, medium-well. Both were excellent and cooked just the way we wanted them. Oh, and pass on the baked potato or fries for the white cheddar mashed potatoes. They are to die for! My wife had the rice pilaf, which she says was excellent. The onion rings appetizer was also great.

It was nice having salad, corn bread, steak, and the side as a meal. We used to frequent Chart House for special occasions until they made everything al carte. That's just a ploy to jack up the price of a meal without giving folks sticker shock.

What to drink? While the beer selection is the same as Rock Bottom Brewery (they are both owned by the same firm), that's not bad. I prefer the Pilsner and my wife the wheat, but almost all of their choices are superb. I believe this craft brewed beer selection is one of the best in the Rock Mountain West.

The service was as good as the food and the general ambiance of the place fit nicely with the occasion. Granted the ChopHouse has a more masculine tone, which stuffy Briarwood ladies probably wouldn't appreciate. But, my forty-something wife loved it. She especially liked the heavily padded, comfortable booths and the very attentive wait staff.

So I highly recommend the Denver ChopHouse to anyone looking for a great steak and a reasonable meal price.

  • Pros: Great steak and great beer.
  • Cons: None
