Great food
by jmillsap
This place is very nice. The oysters are very good. I had the scallops and was fantastic. One member in our group orderd surf and turf. His steak was over cooked but he never complained. They bought the whole table dessert without us even asking! Excellent customer service finished off a great experience.
- Pros: awesome oysters and scallops
- Cons: small place
near best seafood
by seafoodspring
oysters were awesome;fresh excellent selection and fairly priced. main entree was a little too spicy but palatable and tasty. I liked their house wine double chardonnay and the desert was delicious.
in the end the staff makes this place; they were friendly, offered good meal suggestions. our waiter jeff was timely in service, made excellent meal suggestions and everyone was cool. thanks
- Pros: service, food, wine , staff
- Cons: parking
What's the hype?
by DtownDiner
I don't see what everyone thinks is so good about this place! The meal I had was only so so for a 25 dollar dish, and it seems like everything on the menu has something gross added to it to just ruin an otherwise good plate. I sort of liked the crab cakes, but they came with a sauce that was quite similar to thousand island dressing and the salmon pasta would have been good, if it tasted like salmon and not sea water. Sorry Jax, just not digging it.
- Pros: Their alcoholic bevs were nice
- Cons: For a seafood resturaunt, their seafood is below par
Love it
by allyko
One of the few places in land-locked Denver where I order seafood without hesitation. The scallops are my fave, but I even love the calamari appetizer which I never have enjoyed elsewhere. (I generally avoid fried food, but it's worth the taste) Jax tends toward the pricey side for it's upscale informal type atmosphere, but I think it's worth it for the consistent quality. I've never been disappointed here. It's always good, and a good time.
Nice evening out
by phoeniz
The place is definitely hip and cool. The food was good but the ambiance is what definitely makes this place go. My boyfriend thought his seafood platter was tasty. He wished there was more on the plate but he needs to lose weight anyways. I had a nice crab salad (yum).
- Pros: Crab Salad
- Cons: None
Very Average
by pgco
I ate there last night and the food was very average. It was all cooked fine, but for what amounted to a $130 dinner for 2, we could do so much better. The fish, and we ordered one appetizer and 2 entrees, were all fine, very average though and the accompanying sauces did not mesh well with the fish. I doubt I would return.
- Pros: Service, Polite Staff, Solid, if unspectacular wine list
- Cons: Ambience and Food
fresh seafood
by sfruby
My wife and I were visiting from San Francisco and a little hesitant about seafood in Denver. Surprise! Everything was fresh and very lightly sauced, salted and spiced. Good portions. This restaurant would do great in the Bay Area. We were hungry so even though it was happy hour we went straight to the dining room. Service was excellent. When we were done, it was still happy hour, so we retired to the bar, had a few drinks and oysters for dessert and went back to our hotel very happy.
Oysters were awesome
by dublivin
I ate here for the first time on a Tuesday night; and it was still a full house all night. Its a great little restuarant that was still able to handle our party of 6 in less than a 1/2 hour of time at the bar. The service was great, and the food was awesome. The west coast oysters were some of the best ive ever had, and the calamari was moist and delicious. The Ahi Tuna was my main course and it met my expectations, and had I made room, desert sounded wonderful as well. Definitely check this place out.
- Pros: Seafood freshness, ambience
Great happy hour

I was here last night and had 75 cent oysters and 2.00 beers. Great place to bring your boss or a good friend!
Great Seafood & Atmosphere
by chloejoy
A great atmosphere for dates or groups. The waistaff is always helpful and accomodating. The blackened catfish is a must-have. The food is always prepared well. It's enough to leave you full, but not stuffed.
- Pros: Ambience, Seafood
