Cool Atmoshpere, plenty of drunks

by chrisonofrios

I moved to Denver about 2 months ago and have been out to a couple bars in Denver, LoDo's being one of them. It's a cool bar and one night when i was there they had some pretty good drink specials (I think it was a Friday night and they had Long Island Ice Teas for a dollar). The patio is very cool as well as the inside of the bar, but it often times seems really dirty and wet (spilled drinks). I'd recommend this place if you are going to the "LoDo" area, but still my favorite bar that I've found in the area is Tavern Downtown across the street. I will post more reviews of other bars soon.

  • Pros: Patio, ladies
  • Cons: Takes forever to get a drink

Let me tell you how it is!

by tinasince1983

LoDo's just remodeled and doubled their capacity. The patio is huge now with more heaters and even a fireplace. Bathrooms were a wonderful addition to the patio especially with the summer music series coming up where live bands will play every Friday and Saturday evening on the patio. We have a new beer list and added tons of new menu items. We are a great lunch spot especially on the patio in the summer. Yes, if you come on the weekends late night you will still get the scene of younger 20-somethings drinking and dancing the night away...we have a live DJ and the restaurant turns into a dance party. I love working here because it's entertaining and you meet and socialize with a variety of people. I've been here a year and don't plan to leave anytime soon. We get busy for Rockies home games and local events around town. The bartenders are friendly and chatty and the server staff is always eager to help. It's how we do it around here. We have some of the best drink prices in LoDo and some of the most efficent security staff I've been exposed to. They make LoDo's a safe environment for it's patrons and staff. Management is amazing, if you ever have an issue they are willing to resolve it, although they might tease you when you come to close your tab the next morning, hungover. Weekend mornings we serve brunch for 5.99 and have a bloody mary bar that is 5 bucks! We have college alumni teams that meet here to cheer on their teams on our huge TVs in HD (and yes, we added even more TVs downstairs as well as the patio). It's a great environment with an atmosphere that changes based on time of day and day of week. It's why we have so many regulars. Come down, have lunch, take a tour of the newly remodeled building and enjoy some of the local favorites on tap.

  • Pros: New Menu, New Beer List, Great Staff, Newly Remodeled, Busy Late Night Scene
  • Cons: Parking around downtown is well....parking downtown. Wish we had a bigger lot.

I WILL NEVER GO THERE AGAIN

by laxluver

I have gone to Lodo's many times. Generally I like the atmosphere of the casual sports bar and their rooftop patio is great in the summer. I do have an issue with the people who work the door. They have become increasing rude. My boyfriend and I showed up to Lodo's after a St. Patrick's day concert event they had earlier that morning to have a couple of afternoon beers. After waiting in line for about 20 minutes, the doorman checked my ID and let me pass, but refused to let my boyfriend in, claiming that he had already thrown my boyfriend out of the bar that morning and that he was too intoxicated to come into the bar, when, in fact, we had not been to Lodo's in months. We were not drunk and were not causing a scene--they had no reason to single us out, but refused to let us enter. Sadly, the same thing had happened to us on Labor Day Weekend, but I thought we would try again, thinking it had been an honest mistake on their part. Although I had been to Lodo's in the past and have had a great time, I will NEVER GO THERE AGAIN. I would rather walk across the street to any of the numerous bars that are on Market Street that create the same atmosphere (with a lot better service).

What everyone else said is pretty much true

by playlax20

Yes, this place is a meat market and reminds me of that one bar nearby every single college campus in this country where young people go to hook up. If you think you're so above that, then don't come here. I'm 24 years old and I personally like a bar like this where I can show up in flip-flops and a baseball hat and relax on the roof and talk to girls. Plus, the staff is friendly and seems devoted to helping their customers have fun. If you're so sophisticated, then go hang out at Monarck with the super-yuppies wearing their shiny button down shirts.

  • Pros: patio, staff is friendly, usually drink specials, relaxed atmosphere
  • Cons: can be almost too college meatmarket like, so don't come if you don't want that

Meat Market

by ambrosgela

This place is a horrible excuse for a club/bar. Inside is like walking though a sweat chamber, the dance floor is always too crowded with too many drunk 20 somethings. I guess if you are into that, great, but I wouldn't waste my time here.

Like sub-par frat parties? You'll love it here!

by fairlane

The building is great, and if only they'd kick all the drunk horny guys and stupid girls lacking in morals and self-esteem out and get some class it would be a great place.

Fun place with best outdoor patio!

by elizabeth06

My friends and I come to Lodo's quite a bit and we love it. My husband watches the games in HD and we love to sample the bloody mary bar on the weekends. One of our favorite things about Lodo's is their huge rooftop patio. They have misters on all summer long and keep it heated when it's cold. And for a bar, they have pretty good food! We tried going to the bar across the street, but after a couple nights there we were broke. Most people that go, have a good time.

  • Pros: Great rooftop patio, sports in HD, friendly staff
  • Cons: Inside gets hot in the summer, especially on the dance floor

Tip a drink while watching one of the several TV screens, or take in an impressive view of the Rockies.

In Short
Located in the former home of Mattie Silk's red-light operation, LoDo's upper deck offers majestic views of mountains and Coors Field. An expansive bar and nighttime drink deals draw 20- and 30-somethings. On weekend nights when there's live entertainment, expect to wait in line. Pub food is served--fish-and-chips, beer-battered shrimp, fajitas, meat loaf, pasta, salads and sandwiches. On tap are 24 beers, ranging from local microbrews to old favorites.

Lodo's review

by stephanie5252

Lodo's is a great place to be if you are looking to meet people except that it is over crowded. I can't stand to go there anymore because you literally can not walk around.

  • Pros: social, fun
  • Cons: crowded, crowded, crowded
