If you are in Denver and want to experience 70 or so taps from which to choose local, national and international craft beers (and many more bottles, particularly Belgians), then this is the place. If you want a margarita, a Bud Light, or a pitcher of Coors (all of which are fine if that's what you want), do NOT come here. This place is catered to those who are Beer Advocates. They also serve halfway decent pub grub at a good value (great Bison burgers). It is true, the service isn't always good, especially if the place is slammed, but if you are a local or try to order decent beers then you will probably be treated just fine. In fact i'm a regular and i'm treated very well, but i kinda had to work my way up to that. Some may not think that's right, but i think it was worth it because you can't get a better beer selection within 1000 miles of this place, and that is a true fact. Come to Falling Rock and try something you've never had before, your favorite type of beer may just be waiting for you there, even if you don't think you like beer!

Pros: Great beer selection, good pub grub, great place if you're even a semi-regular

Cons: Busy LoDo location is kind of a hassle

I have been here a couple of times and recieved horrible service! Then I had to meet some friends there so I went in expecting horrible service, I was very surprised when before I even walked in the door the waitress managed to offend me even more! I have heard from other people in the industry that you just have to know someone there. I can accept that to be treated very well, you need to know someone, but its nice to go somewhere and at least be treated in a civil manner!

The first time I went in there was with a couple of my buddies. We had this waitress that is amazing. She was bringing me small taste beers to try before I decided on what I wanted to drink. After a couple of hours we left to aonther bar over in the area then headed back to the House. The waitress got us another table and brough us a couple of rounds on the house. We ended up closing the place around 3am and walked out with the workers. It was a few months before my friend and I went back but when we walked in our waitress the first time remembered us and hooked it up for us agian. Everyone there is starting to get to know me and my best friend. The man at the door always welcomes us with a hand shake and knows our name. The staff is so down to earth that it makes you feel so welcomed. I ended up at the Tap House a few times a month and everytime it gets better. I dont understand some of the negative reviews. One guy bitching about not getting wine. They are a TAP HOUSE not a winery that would be like going to a scotch bar and asking for Patron. If you are looking for a place to chill with some good friends and good people this is the place. You can actually hear each other when you talk and dont have to listen to lame music.

Food was decent but we were hugely dissapointed by our servers' brazenly rude behaviors. So muchso that it completely spoiled my experience and soured my impression of this place. I went in with a few people about a year ago and can relate to the last reviewer who said that his/her server just seemed annoyed to be waiting on them. We experienced the same thing with more than one staff member. We had a cocktailer take our drink order, and then a server took our food order, and both just seemed patently put-out by us. I'm not expecting all smiles with people falling all over us; I'm pretty easy-going as I've waited tables before and can understand stresses of the job, but these folks just had over-all bad attitudes. So after a particularly icy start with both servers, we get our drinks and place our food orders. One friend, who just got off of an 18 hour shift at Rose Medical, closes his eyes. Not leaning over, or slumped-over drooling on the table, not even resting his head on the side of the booth. Just sitting quitely, perfectly upright with his eyes closed while the rest of us talk. He fades in and out and chatting or about 10 min. The server greets us with two plates of food saying "Hey, if he's passed out you gotta get him outta here!" My friend opens his eyes as everyone at the table, fed up by the prior rudeness says, "He's fine!". With this, server literally drops the plates of food onto the table, and with no apology, just storms away. Never seen anything like it. If he had politely asked, "hey is your buddy alright, cuz if not, we can't have people asleep in here and you'll have to leave", it would have been one thing, but this guy was just over-the-top. I'd like to say that it was an isolated incident, but I've heard from others, including on this site, about rude behaviors from the staff here. I'll never know for sure, because sadly, I'll never go back. They just completely blew it.

Pros: location

Cons: service

After waiting 15 minutes for service in an empty bar, the wait staff person finally arrived and stated she was in a bad mood. OK great. it was a birthday party. Not what you want to hear. We asked her for merlot and she said "no merlot". "Ok"...we asked "what do you have"? She said "Red or white". Honestly I thought this was a joke. This is a BAR....correct? Granted a beer bar, but a full service bar non the less. When the red wine arrived it was so sweet that is was hard to drink. A wine out of the box would have been better. Seriously. Trying to get her to take our food orders seemed like it was really putting her out, she would not write anything down & she seemed irritated that we wanted food. At this point we all just wanted OUT. So between the worst service ever and painfully sweet wine, I won't be going back any time soon. We all moved down to the Celtic, where they seemed to actually want our business.

Pros: Outdoor patio.

Cons: Parking is expensive. Pitchers start at $14.00. Service BAD! No merlot in a BAR. Pricey.

The last time i visited the Falling Rock was in 2005, and havent forgotten about it since. It was in the late summer of '05 after Huricanne Katrina. The management, bartenders, and even the regular coustomers had that southern hospitality that i was looking for in a bar. Unfortanatly i could not stay in town for as long as i origanaly planed, and had to return to my native southern home of New Orleans. But as soon as i get back to denver this weekend ill trip right back into the falling rock, berring gifts of Louisiana local beers Dixie, Abita, ect to add to the extensive collection of beer bottles displayed along the walls. I recomend this bar to anyone looking for a cool place to chill. And if the Big Easy recomends it than it must be for real.

My fiance and I frequent many brew houses and pubs in Denver due to his love for "elite beer". I've been to Falling Rock several times. I have to say that although they do have an amazing selection of beer and OK food, the service has been consitantly AWFUL. Our waitress who we have had the last three times we went there was very rude and unaccomodating. She was not polite, pretty much threw our beer at us and spoke in one answer replies. A few weeks ago, we chalked it up to her having a bad night in a busy bar, and overtipped her at 50% to make a point. Tonight she was even worse, overcharged us actually. We did have a large party (it was actually a company gathering/holiday party, way to ruin a night!) and they would not give us seperate tabs, which is understandable, but when three different people added up the bill and each came up with the fact that we were overcharged about $15, we brought it to her attention. She said she would re-add it, coming back about 30 seconds later and said "it's right". We checked our math again and tried to leave the correct total in cash, she finally becomes animated and says "no you can't leave until you pay OUR total". And to top it off, when they won't do seperate tabs they add a huge gratuity, despite the crappy service which deserved no tip at all. I tried to get the manager to bring a calculator so we could show him their error, he said "sure" and never came back. So 20 minutes later we wanted to get out this horrible establishment, and ended up paying the over charge anyway. Unless you enjoy getting ripped off and having the worst service I've ever come across I would suggest avoiding this bar. There are plenty of other brew pubs and taverns in Denver with excellent service and excellent beer: find one!

Pros: Good Beer Selection

Cons: Horrible Service, Unattentive managment, overcharged tab

I immediately loved this place because of the outfit. But there are several drawbacks. Yes, there is a long list of Colorado and US beers - can't say anything bad about them. But tried several european beers on tap there - almost all of them are too wattery. Probably old. You may find a better Guinness in Denver. The same about German Pilsners. And yeah, what's with just one unisex restroom with a long lines to it?

Pros: Large beer list.

Cons: No good beers, one unisex restroom.

I have been a regular at the Falling Rock for years and have to say that I am always excited to go! The beers are great, the staff are personable and the band, Dysfunction Junction always puts on a good show. We danced until the lights came up! I don't know why they don't advertise when DJ is playing. Call ahead to find out.

Pros: great food, beer selection, friendly staff
