Awesome time!

by denverdonna at Citysearch

My husband and I went to see Joe Rogan last night and it was amazing! First of all the show was awesome, I have never laughed so hard in my entire life! And though it does have cramped seating it makes the room feel very intimate and the laughter engulfs you. The staff was very friendly and overall we had a great night on the town.

Funny Business

by Annotine at Citysearch

This place is great! I have been numerous time, and the company that I work for is even considering having our holiday party there! I have been to about three shows downtown, and just recently went to one at their Landmark location. The vibe is totally different at each club, but they are equally as impressive and entertaining. The South location is opening a new restaurant, and I hear that it is supposed to be really something. I cant wait to check it out:) This is the best place for comedy anywhere in Denver, and it is obvious that the comics love to perform at these venues!

  • Pros: Great Atmosphere, great comics, great fun!
  • Cons: Parking... then again, it's always hard to park downtown...

Please Read This Before You Go!

The reason you see that nearly all the reviews are either one star or five stars has to be because the staff is trying to counteract the customers, I think. Very very disappointing night. I expect a night out at a venue like this to be a little overpriced, but this was absurd. The two drink minimum didn't deter me at first but when I saw the drink prices for even watery bottom of the barrel domestics I was shocked. Still, ticket prices weren't terrible, so I settled in to enjoy the show but couldn't due to near constant harassment by our extremely rude waitress who was clearly used to people trying to get out of the drink minimum because she was defensive and insulting from the first conversation. We missed a good portion of the show just trying to get her to wait until we finished our first round before ordering our second. Management repeatedly was seen and heard hassling or pulling out crowd members near us who, as far as we could figure out, were simply enjoying the show or trying to climb out to go to the bathroom. Weird. I signed up for this site just to publish a review for this venue, so what does that tell you? Much better venues around town exist, don't waste your money or more importantly, your time.

You Guys Are CRAZY!

by ktdenver at Citysearch

Reading some of these past reviews makes me think that no one is out to have a good time! I recently went to Comedy Works with my boyfriend and was very pleased by everything. We took the light rail down, so we didn't have to pay for parking and could enjoy ourselves without the worry. If you get drinks any where they are not going to be less than a dollar, I thought they were very reasonably priced. I liked the dark and intimate setting of the show, and the closeness allowed me to snuggle with my bf and/or meet some new people (however you want to look at it)!! Our wait staff was very attentive, and everyone was happy, laughing and having an all around good time.

I found it more rewarding to spend $50 for two people with 4 drinks to see a great live comedian, than going to a movie and not having half the thrill...

Comedy Works is AMAZING!

by SamanthaSLee at Citysearch

I have been to many shows at Comedy Works in Downtown Denver, but recently I went to a show at Comedy Works in the DTC! I had the most amazing experience! The customer service is awesome at both location, the facilities are top notch, the food and beverage choices are delicious, and of course the comedians are always great! The thing I love the most about both Comedy Works locations is that they have different themed nights such as: Chicks Rule, Montreal Just for Laughs Comedy Festival, New Talent Night, The Funny Final 4 Comedy Night, The National College Stand-up Competition, and many more! Being new to Denver, and having attended many comedic performances all over the country, I have to say that Comedy Works has been my favorite experience.

  • Pros: Service, Atmosphere, Customer Service, Food and Beverage, etc.

Comedy King in Denver

by jlden at Citysearch

As a comedy fan who has recently moved to Denver, I can assure those who have not been to Comedy Works that they are in for a treat. The quality of comedy is second to none. I've seen Doug Benson, Tom Pappa, & David Alan Grier just to name a few comedians over the last year. The Larimer Square showroom is intimate and one is only feet away from the comedian. If you need a good laugh, Comedy Works is the place to go.

Not funny

by trhtm at Citysearch

Nothing good to say about this place. From the wait staff that is very rude, to the poles in the way, to the very cramped seating. I will not be going back. I have never seen bouncers in a commedy club. By the way the bouncers treat the patrons they must get paid for each person they persuade to leave. The only noise they allow is laughter, but only at the right time. Drinks are expensive and weak. Don't waste your time or money!

  • Cons: too many to list

Security is a big joke

by frontrangetraveler at Citysearch

I visited the Comedy Works last night and I witnessed the staff of Comedy Works ignore a large oversize belligerent bully threaten multiple members of the audience. Upon notifying the management of Comedy Works of the problem, they elected to ignore the problem rather than address and went so far as to shake the thug's hand. Our group alerted Comedy Works managment to the disruption caused by this group and how it ruined the show, and they proceeded to ban our entire group of four people from returning to the club for reporting the problem. Security and the Management of Comedy Works is a joke and I will never return this place. This place is terrible, and definitley not a safe place to take your girlfiend or wife as management has no concern for the safety or enjoyment of show of their patrons.

Read all the review and do the math.

by willytowns at Citysearch

Beware - read all the reviews - and- do the math! At the time of this writing there were 26 reviews with a total of 77 stars. Divide 77 by 26 and the overall rating would be less than 3 - yet somehow citysearch has this place ranked almost a 5? The place is crowded even when it's not full because the chairs are jammed in like sardines. The food is not good, service is atrocious - and the place just feels dirty.

Thugs, dishonest policies

by denverjohn at Citysearch

What kind of business charges you a hefty cover, then REQUIRES you to purchase at least two drinks? It's a rip off. To satisfy my requirement, I ordered chicken strips, which count as a drink, and a coke. I got 5, fatty, reprocessed strips, for $9.00, and a coke that they kept refilling. Turns out the refills were not free. They were $4.00 a piece. They refused to take the extra cokes off and charged me full price. They also have a very weird rule about how you cannot leave the club without having your bill stamped first. Who the hell are they to tell me when I can leave? There's no parking on top of it all. So, enjoy the comedy while you're abused and imprisoned. This over-priced hassle just isn't worth the laughs and something should be done about their absurd, anti-customer rules.

  • Pros: At least the comics themsleves aren't responsible for this shady business
  • Cons: dishonest charges, everything overpriced, thugs tell you when you can leave, tiny seats
