Can't Go Wrong
by MirandaB
I have enjoyed many sausage gravy and biscuit plates, but nothing has compared to what Dozens serves up. The coffee is so good, better than anything around. The casual atmosphere reminds me of my favorite restaurant back home. The service has always been top notch. And the key to enjoying all of this is knowing the best times to go!
- Pros: Parking, Patio, Perfection
- Cons: None
Great place with a long history

When folks can just write whatever they want anonymously. What is the value?
Dozens has been in the Golden Triangle for over 22 years. Won more "Best of Denvers" and "Top of the Towns" than several other restaurants combined. Dozens is a Zagat rated restaurant. It was featured in Sunset magazine twice and the United Inflight magazine. Every Governor since Romer, every Mayor since Pena and every DA since Norm Early has dined there. The DNC host committee (yes that's right DEMOCRATS) Held a meeting there every Thursday in advance of the convention.
I apologize if someone was offended by an distracted employee. We don't have Spanish themed entrees (it is a California based egg concept from the early eighties with a French flair). True we still run a wait on the weekends (even in this economy) and that may be hard for some. We only lightly season our food. It is "breakfast" and we provide quite an assortment of condiments to liven it up if you like. If we are on a 30 min wait, it's not gonna be cool to dash some late arriving and unaccounted for friends to your two seat table, try to brow beat the host into submission and then make up some fictional story about the chain of events.
Regarding children. I have two of my own. My wife was a nanny for many years before we married. I like kids. Dozens is a business, in a business and very mature market. Businesses cater to their market. Children are welcome at Dozens and if it's slow they may even get a little extra attention. Fact is though, it's not really that kind of place. Nothing personal, just a fact. If you go to Dozens in Aurora (very family neighborhood) you'll find lot's of amenities for children.
I thank all the tens of thousands of folks (adults and children) who have dined at Dozens over the years. We rarely get a complaint. Many think it's the best breakfast in town.
This is not anonymous. You know who this is and I stand by it.
See you for Breakfast,
Johne
- Pros: Fresh and fast. Top quality ingredients. Best scrambled eggs
- Cons: I'm biased
Terribly rude staff was a turn off
by cburg0
We were seated and ignored by wait staff for 20 minutes. The waitress serving the adjacent table would not acknowledge our existence even though she was 2 feet away with her back to us. When we finally asked this same waitress if we could get some coffee she rudely replied that she wasn't our waitress and walked away. A little friendly aknowledgment is all we wanted and any decent restaurant knows this. Is it too much to ask that staff notice you, smile, and say I'll let your server know you are seated? We won't go back again.

Rude staff, says vegetarian friendly, but is the only place in colorado that sells coffee...but not soy milk.
Not very clean either, had to return my silverware twice!
Egg White's Only

Anybody that is not white, republican or Christian should not set within fifty feet of this place. There have been several times where guests and staff where very rude to my family because we are not white, republican or Christian. Bottom line don?t eat there!!!!!!!
- Pros: NONE
- Cons: Everthing about this place

I don't know why there used to be lines to get in this place when I first moved here. The food is horrifyingly bad and unhealthy. Also, what is up with the apple butter?? Overall, I can think of 10 other breakfast spots (including home!) I'd rather visit than to make the trek downtown for a menu that features ingredients from King Soopers. And for lunch? Almost inedible.
Nothing that stands out

Their food is average, nothing stellar. Muffins are good, except I did get one muffin the last time I ate there that had a chunk of, what I suspect to be, a wooden spoon in it. Ew, but it happens, at least it wasn't a fingernail!
- Pros: Consistent food
- Cons: People that work there
No high-chairs for your stupid brats, yay!

Your kids are only cute to you...I'm glad to have a place I can eat breakfast without the irritating sound of you baby talking to your child.
I only hope that someday I get to see this famous manager go off on idiotic, demanding customers. I'm getting the feeling I want to shake his hand.
- Pros: Decent food, doesn't cater to your spawn that no one likes but you
- Cons: Crowded
Worst Customer Service Ever

Having just moved to Denver, a friend recommended Dozens as a wonderful breakfast place. It was - until the end of the meal. This same friend who told me to eat at Dozens and his wife joined my table just as my breakfast companion was leaving. While the four of us chatted, the waitress came over and confirmed that the new additions would want food. She didn't seem to be upset.
We were unaware this would be a problem. Suddently the manager appeared and let us know that even if one of us was on the way out, three people could not occupy a "two top" and that we were "taking liberties" in his restaurant without going through proper seating protocol. He was visibly upset, and none of us could really wrap our minds around why.
The confusion spiraled from there. After a series of questions from us about where we could sit, without getting answers, my friend suggested that perhaps this was too complicated and he should eat elsewhere. At this, the manager told him to leave saying the actual words: "get out of my restaurant NOW," so loudly that others in the area stopped talking to look. With sympathies from the diners around us, we got up to leave and - I kid you not - as I paid in full for my breakfast with 20 percent tip at the register, the manager continued to berate us, talking about how he's sick of customers who "come in to my restaurant and want to be in control."
I'm just absolutely baffled. I've never been kicked out of a restaurant. I still don't even understand what got him so upset in the first place. After looking here at a few reviews regarding the difficult seating situation, it makes sense that there is tension. But really, with so many wonderful places to eat there is no reason for me to ever return to a place with such a horribly rude manager. I don't need a side of fighting to go with my food.
- Pros: good chicken salad
- Cons: mean, bitter, control-freak staff

I love Dozen's. I've only been there to sit down twice but i order it to go all the time! (key to getting quick food on a saturday. I think the guy that works in the front ROCKS. He is always friendly and always fun to talk to. They messed up my order once and gave me free food. They do everythign to make sure you will come back to eat with them.
There food is alright. Sometimes it rocks and other times it's on the normal side. However, overall I LOVE DOZENS! :) :)
- Pros: Friendly staff, big smiles, lots of parking
- Cons: food is average.
