Do not miss this place!!!
by JenAndErn
I read the reviews on here and was shocked that there are people out there who are not fans of this historic Denver treasure! The Fiesta platter is my favorite, it has a relleno, a cheese enchilada, and a smothered bean burrito. The flavors are off the chart. I eat Mexican food several times a week and try every new place in town that comes around. We eat at all the little gems on Colfax, Federal, and all around, and I have to say La Fiesta is my hands-down, no-contest favorite!
- Pros: Chili rellenos!!!
good mexican food at an awsome price
by Fitler
If you are looking for good mexican food at an awsome price there is no better place in Denver. It is not the best food ever but it is good. Service is fast and friendly. Be prepaired they only take cash. From what i have heard they only use Velveeta cheese so some people must not know what there eating. kind of like a blind taste test that proves people have no idea what they are talking about.
All Time Favorite Mexican Food!!
by CWLeDuc
La Fiesta has spoiled me! All other mexican resturaunts now pale in comparison to la fiesta. They have the BEST green chile Around! I have this on high authority from someone who eats green chile 3 meals a day, when he can. Their Queso is delicious! And the enchiladas are filling and wonderful. The "Pollo A La Fiesta" is pretty awesome. And the "pogo burger" is a yummy and different take on burgers and fries. We go to this place for lunch at least once a week, and dinner as many friday nights as possible when we're in town. Go prepared to be completely filled up and deliciously surprised. The yummiest Mexican food anywhere!
- Pros: Green Chile and everything on the menu. Also staff are wonderful people!
good salsa; great prices
by pokerplayer1234
This place can accomodate large groups if you make a reservation. The free chips and salsa were probably the highlight. The red salsa that came with the chips was deliciously spicy. The other food is only okay, nothing to brag about. If you get a dish with beef, don't expect shredded beef. They put ground beef in their burritos. Yep, that's right. It's like a hamburger helper burrito. The cheese on the burrito looked like a slice of Kraft singles melted on top. I mean, the burrito was okay tasting and not bad, I guess it just wasn't what I was used to. The green chili on my burrito was super mild, which I was surprised about. However, you can't beat the prices here. Most entrees were $5 or under, so I guess you get what you pay for.
- Pros: great prices/ food not bad but not fantastic, spicy salsa with the chips
- Cons: hamburger helper burritos
I threw my burrito away instead of giving it to a homeless person
by cocopuffnstuff
Three of us gals tried this place for lunch all ordering different items and all of us were disappointed. The beans on the beef and bean burrito tasted like a cooked tire. The cheese wiz on the burrito didn't help with the flavor either. Two us had items swimming in the flour tasting watered down soup they called green chili. The third had a cheese enchilada in red chili that was said to have tasted like water with red dye. I actually felt sick to my stomach after eating this. I usually give my extras and leftovers to a neighborhood homeless man but, I didn't want to offend him.
- Pros: People were friendly
- Cons: Food is beyond bad
If you like cheez whiz then you'll love La Fiesta!
by davelamson
For some reason La Fiesta has become the embodiment of Mexican food in Denver, with it emblematic smothered plates of cheese and green salsa and a decor that hasn't changed in 30 years. The service is fast and attentive, lots of free chips, good salsa and great prices....so whats the problem??? My issues come when you hybrid what would be decent mexican food, with american fast food. Take a perfectly good chile rellenos with mexican cheese, beautiful! Now fill the same thing with an american cheese, especially one with the taste of cheese whiz, and you've just ruined the dish. Mexican food can be excellent, with its simple ingredients and distinct flavors, but mix that with the highly processed orange cheese and someone is bound to get hurt.
Like hot, flavorful green chilli?
by epreed
Hands down, the best green chilli I have ever had! Great burritos, chicken or steak. Too bad this place isn't open longer or on the weekends. Highly recommended!
- Pros: Excellent Service
- Cons: Hours of operation
best chile rellanos
by ch13
It is to bad La Fiesta is not more widely known. Some of the best mexican food in downtown. Everytime i have dined here I have received great food, service, value and a general sense of being appreciated. Highly recommend for anyone.
- Pros: great food good service
- Cons: only open for lunch
Killer Chile Rellenos!
by missingthebigd
Hadn't been to this restaurant in 13 years, and went there on a nostalgic whim. It's rare that a restaurant can maintain the same great food, fun atmosphere and prompt service, but La Fiesta has done it. The chile rellenos were my favorite then, and they were exactly as I remembered them - crisp shell, lots of cheese and spicy. Arrived at 11:15 AM, and by Noon, the place was packed with a mix of locals and downtown business types. In a world of dining mediocrity, this place is still a classic.
- Pros: Friendly atmosphere, homemade taste
- Cons: Non-descript building is not the easiest to find if you've never been.
Weekday Lunch
by buffalochef
When Food Snob wants a great pile of Mexican ... this is one of his fav's. I like good, consistant Green Chili, and I like it with a bite. This is consistanty good and for most tastes ... hot. Crispy Chili Rellenos, good beans, salsa's, cheeses and salads .... and its not open evenings or weekends, so the great Marg's. are out for lots of noon-timers.
Back in the day, this "dark warehouse", as someone called it.... was actually La Fiesta as a Great Hot Spot. Great happy hours and late night music and dancing. A pretty Fun and Wild place.
- Pros: great for weekday lunch
- Cons: not open weekends or evenings
