Most authethic and tasty Mexican food in Denver

I first want to say the comment made that the food tasted like it was out of a can was totally wrong. I have been going to the Mexico City restaurant for 15 years and have seen the changes thru the years.

some people have a problem with change but I think the restaurant has kept up with the new and improving neighborhood and has never been better. The food is the best in town and the most authentic Mexican Food you can find in Denver.

• Pros: Must have Steak tacos, margaritas
• Cons: may have to wait if busy but well worth it

I think they got their meat from the Purina factory

When I was done eating it felt like I had swallowed a whole soppy wet pig that was fighting to get back out. After two tacos I started moaning like I was about to give berth. These tacos were greasy and the meat tasted like it came out of a can. The rice and beans were bland making them far more enjoyable than any part of my grease soaked tacos.

My friends love this place but I will not be back.

Yummy Tacos!!

The steak tacos are by far the best I've ever had. My family and I go here pretty regularly and haven't noticed any service issues like the ones mentioned in other reviews. It's a hole-in-the-wall kind of atmosphere and the waitstaff doesn't kiss your butt like some of the more trendy restaurants downtown but I really prefer to be left alone when I'm eating so I don't care. The prices are low and the food is great - that's all that matters.

Best Tacos you can get outside of your own house!

I love this place! My dad took me to this place for the first time about 5 years ago, he has been going there forever. My fiance and I go every sunday, and I haven't ever had a bad experience. The staff treats us like we have been long time friends. The food is great and authentic! The only other place I have had tacos this great is when my own mother makes them. I am very picky when it comes to hispanic food and I love this place!

Excellent Green Chili - Lame Service

I used to really love this place, but it's changed. I agree with the other person's post about the clientele. I also don't enjoy being treated as if they are doing me the favor. The owner/mgr. is snotty, the staff less than happy. I watch them get yelled at countless times by the owner. Last time I went, they told me to sit with these other strangers. I waited 30 min. for tacos!!! This last and final time I went there, I ordered hot green chili and got the mild. They can't seem to do anything right anymore. It's really just not worth it. I guess I'll have to make my own green chili. Only go if you are ready to be treated shabbily and wait forever.

Long Time Fan

I have been going to Mexico City for many many years. While agree with one of the reviewers that it isn't the same as it once was, it still has the best tacos and chicharrones in Denver.

Steak tacos!!!

They have the best steak tacos I have ever had. The rest of their menu is very good also at a great price. I have coming in here for years and have never had a bad experience.

I Miss Willie

The place isn't the same. The food isn't the same. It's because of the people (customers). Now they're clientele. Friends of friends who got told about this cool little place to eat. The "Juarez", S&K Market, Doi's Pharmacy, the S.K.Y., all passed (if you know than you know). Miss you Willie and Long Live Ed (sorry man but I'll never tell). It's good enough for the gringos (no offense to anybody) but it ain't what it was. Peace out.
