Sushi does not taste better when it smells like Poo

by MountainGoblin

One word. Sewage! This place actually smells like Poo and I'm not talking about the Poo Poo platter. Also, the fish is well......fishy! Good sushi isn't fishy. Mori is cheap. This place is trashed. Seats have duct tape holding them together, pretty sure they rip people off with the Saki and pour the cheap stuff in different bottles.

so many better places...I can't imagine why anyone would like this place.

Best Japanese food in Denver, bar none

by agwilliams

I am so sad to learn that the Mori is no more. It has been my favorite Japanese restaurant for many, many years. I have brought so many friends and family to the Mori and have never been disappointed. I would

like to hear what happened and hear something from the owner. Are we ever going to have another Mori

in the future? I think that we locals and loyal patrons do deserve some sort of reason we have such an

empty loss.

hooray cheap eats!

by cityadventurist303

For you sushi snobs out there, don't spoil the cheap-ness of Mori. That's right go somewhere else more upscale and snobby. But for those of you who don't mind dive bars, cheap eats, and fun kareoke, do come here!! I love their sake bombs! I don't even come here for good sushi, but for low key nights or pre-lodo partying.

Sub par sushi

by eisene

This is one of the cheaper sushi places around, and it tasted that way. The seaweed was old and the sushi had that "store-bought" taste to it. We had a spicy tuna roll and an eel roll, and we canceled the rest of our order because it was that bad. We ended up with a safe choice (shrimp tempura) just to satisfy our appettite and left.

We learned our lesson and will pay a little more to get good sushi. Next time will go to Kona or Sushi Den.

  • Pros: Prompt seating (no one was there)
  • Cons: Bad sushi!!!

Below Average Experience

With sushi bars being a dime a dozen in Denver, it is important to stand out in a unique way. Mori sushi does that, but in an unsuccessful manner. After reading many quality reviews, I decided to try Mori on a Thursday night with hopes that I would catch the tail end of the happy hour crowd. For the first half hour we were two of the five people in the entire establishment. It's nice to not wait for a table, but much of a restaurants atmpsphere is based around the energy that the patrons bring. Also, the housekeeping seemed to be the last thing on the owners mind as the booth where we were sitting was covered in duct tape to patch the holes.

The sushi was mediocre at best, due in part to the poor rolling. This was a small shortcoming that was a detriment to the food, because the flavors were distinct and well-balanced. The sashimi was finely cut and presented beautifully.

If you are looking for a low-key sushi bar with a great menu selection I would recommend Mori. However, if you enjoy restaurants with a lively atmosphere, evaluate your options.

Good Japanese Food

by mshopper001

I have been told to go to Mori's by my colleages and finally went there today for lunch.

I ordered a combination dish which came with tempura, teriyaki chicken, sushi, rice and salad. There were 5 pieces of sushi: tuna, shrimp, salmon, and two pieces of california roll. Tempura was very crispy, teriyaki chicken was authentic. The amount of food you get is very good for what you pay. Their sushi is small (fish cut is small), but the prices are lower than other sushi restaurants. The quality of sushi may not be the best in town, but I think you will be satisfied with their food for what you pay.

  • Pros: Good food for the price you pay
  • Cons: Ambience

Locals Know Mori's is top notch

by risk18

We go to Mori's constantly at least once a week for lunch, and have for years. The prices are great for lunch, and the food is fresh. What Mori's lack's in decor, it makes up for in great food.

If you're a sushi snob, or yuppie wannabe, you'll be swayed by the decor. Probably not a place to go on a first date, but if you're a local, and want a good meal, great price without the hassel of dressing up to impress the 20 somethings at the valet.....Dinner or Lunch, you'll be pleased.

Mori has been around forever and thankfully has stayed. Since the days they shared space with the local VFW hall, Mori has offered fair prices, friendly service and the freshest fish! Cheers Mori!!

  • Pros: Friendly service, parking - downtown!!, great food
  • Cons: None!!
