User Reviews for Denver Zoo

1 Star Rating: Not Recommended

There is NO smoking area on the zoo grounds, so, if you are a smoker, unless you want to walk half a mile or more to have a cigarette, the zoo is not the place for you. (In case someone feels the need to respond to this with a politically correct diatribe about the harmful effects of smoking, save it--all of us smokers already know.) This zoo is ok, but not anything special compared to other zoos; we also thought that the maps were not very helpful in finding exhibits. The park in which the zoo is located is wonderful, but we will skip the zoo in the future.

Pros: Location, In nice City Park, Clean

Cons: Poor maps, Poor signs, No smoking

As a Denver Zoo member, I can say that Denver Zoo continues to make improvements but if you start to compare it to other zoos in other cities it's overall rating is about a seven (7). The Zoo's in San Diego or St. Louis for example beat this zoo hands down in almost every category. The St. Louis Zoo is Free and has great facilities and collection of animals due to the late Merlin Perkins. San Diego charges but it provides a greater overall experience in facilities and animals too.

Pros: free parking, Tropical Exhibit

Cons: StaffDrivingPedPaths, crowded, obstructed views

Fabulous! We loved seeing animals from all worlds. Our favorite part was the underground view of the polar bears! Tropical discovery offers a warm vacation from the cold.

Pros: Clean, Surronded by park, easy to find

The Denver Zoo is the best attraction in town next to Ocean journey. I went home to Arizona for a vaction and visited the Phoenix Zoo two weeks ago, I hate to say this but the Denver Zoo beats the phoenix Zoo hands down in the both animale attractions and things to see and do! The Denver Zoo has more animales to see and its a lot more fun to walk around with out running out of breath or runing from big nasty bugs every 2 minutes. Also Denver as free day at the zoo unlike the Phoenix Zoo!

Pros: Varity of Animales, Free day at the zoo, Not alot of walking

Cons: Parking, Need more bats

I think the Denver Zoo ranks right up there with any other zoo in the U.S. They have every animal you could want to see, including tropical fish and BLUE FROGS in the Tropical Discovery exhibit. With their new parking structure that opened in 2002, there is no reason NOT to visit this wonderful zoo. Be sure to catch ZooLights in December - AWESOME!

Pros: Exhibits, Variety of animals, Ample parking

Nothing else, for the price, offers so much for so many members of the family. We go often enough that we purchased a yearly Zoo Membership. We'll renew every year, and continue to enjoy the outings as often as we can.

Pros: Mammals, Reptiles, Birds

One of the best zoos around and getting better as they change to a more open and animal friendly environment
