The Last Supper
by 5102008
I have been going to CCG for several years. I had one amazing meal there years ago which has prompted many returns. However, the last several times I have eaten there I have left angry and unsatisfied. The staff is always rude. For instance, I have returned a Bloody Mary that was bland and undrinkable, only to argue with the bar tender who didn't want to give me a beer instead. I have returned a salad that was prepared incorrectly without any apology from the wait- staff. I have had a $22.00 piece of Salmon that was unpalatable. I have been refused a to-go-order. Tonight my husband and I ordered the Macho Salads. The salads were incredibly small, the chicken sparse and full of gristle. We asked for bread and they said they would bring us some Ciabatta. However, we were served two pieces of dry sourdough toast. The total meal was $80.00 for two salads (one minus the chicken), an artichoke, and two drinks. We have finally learned our lesson and will never return.
- Cons: Horrible Customer Service. Over-priced inconsistent food!
Great Food in Great Atmosphere with Great Service
by chefra
Virtually all of the dishes here are wonderful. The French Dip is a must have and the Macho Salad is also highly recommended. Excellent Wine selection. Wait times can vary so if you are without a rezzie, come prepared to have a drink or two at the bar. Excellent Food, Atmosphere and Service.
- Pros: Food and Atmosphere
- Cons: Wait
Not what it was
by uncledave
There are a handful of things on the menu that I find that I crave (listed under Pros). There are a lot of things I don't like. Generally, the greeting at the door is cool to downright rude (hint - go in the middle of the afternoon to avoid seating issues.) You're going to get your meal their way not yours (want fries with that French Dip - nope we don't do those anymore - how about some chips out of a bag?) Prices have gone through the roof. Lunch for two - shared articoke, one salmon, one French Dip, one shared dessert and two drinks $100.
- Pros: artichoke, cornbread, smoked salmon, oreo cookie dessert
- Cons: Corporate attitude, prices (especially cocktails)
Consistent food, consistent arrogance
by NoLaDenver
I am a former employee of CCG's sister restaurant. It is not the GM's fault that you can't make reservations for a party more than 4, you can't push tables together, you can't order a drink without the bartender taking a picture of your license, you can't get substitutions, or that you can't get a waiter who won't lay down a snarky comment to get you to buy something. For example, I had a waiter who asked the table next to me "do you have a sweet-tooth we can remedy for you tonight? maybe a cherry crumble?" I could feel it coming, he walked over to us and said the exact thing word for word, I know he's doing that to every single customer that comes in, because he was trained to. CCG is part of a company that asks for constant consistency from every employee, and woe unto the customer or employee that wants something more personalized, creative, or fun. Every single rule was created to weasle more money from customers instead of actually serving people what they want. Its like they think customers are priveleged to get a seat there. I decided to truly test how deep the corporate mentallity is at CCG by ordering an old standby for me - the special. 'The special' is referring of course to the variety of overcooked fish CCG puts on bread and calls a fish sandwich. Needless to say, it was dry (because it was overcooked), and actually quite fishy (probably frozen). Now I understand in Colorado they have to fly the fish in or drive it by truck, but in this day and age for $15 a sandwich I better get something that was swimming less than 30 hours ago. Furthermore, there were no fixins (cabbage, tomato, pickle, remoulade, anything), compounding the dryness problem. Maybe my standards are too high, but a special better be pretty special. With a golden opportunity to make something creative, delicious, and yes - special, CCG will consistenly drop the ball. However, the enchiladas were pretty good, like they always are, and the salad was decent, as always.
- Pros: Consistency
- Cons: value, snarky attitude, crowded, unimaginative
A Nice Treat
by DLazlo
The atmosphere is really nice and I have always found the crowd interesting and friendly. The food is always very good -- the steak and enchiladas and the skillet cornbread are favorites. Patio seating on warm evenings provides good CC atmosphere. Service is very good when CCG is not too crowded. Street parking can be tough on weekends, but there is a parking lot behind the building that has a fair number of spaces. Recommend going during the week if you don't want a long wait. Sure, it's a little pretentious and pricey, but it is a nice treat.
- Pros: great atmosphere, great food
- Cons: long wait on weekends
What happened to C C G ?
by denversearch
What's happened to the Grill? The Macho salad is now the Nene' salad! Meaning baby salad. The once best burger is as small as a burger at a diner. The Filet, once the best item on the menu for flavor, was
changed some time ago. Over all, I'm very disappointed that the establishment is cutting corners. Well, they
lost me and the hundreds of out of town guests I have sent over for a meal. I plan to go back in June, I'll let everyone know if they have improved, for now if you want a great burger, go to Ted's Montana Grill, you'll
love the menu and best in service.
- Pros: Once two thumbs up, Now two thumbs down.
- Cons: Not friendly
ALWAYS order the artichoke
by Acckko21
This is decent restaurant. But one thing is (this is a pet peeve for me when I visit here) that the staff feed your ribd bones or steak bones to random dogs. Honestly, it is a great restaurant, but the feeding of an individuals rid/steak bones to a dog is personally, just plain nasty. But their food is the best. Ever. Just don't even think about the whole bone thing when you are there. But really, you should go there. It's great.
- Pros: Great, great food
- Cons: The dog bone thing.
Great service
by easttex
We stopped in Denver on our way from Seattle back to Texas. The service was great and the food delicious. I recommend the the steak and enchiladas. Be sure to try the spinach dip for an appetizer.
- Pros: Eat on the patio during nice weather
- Cons: Parking on the weekend
Way over priced for mediocre food.
by ajohnsen1
Ok, so here it is as honest as I can spell it out: The food here is pretty good. HOWEVER, it is not worth the wait, the service, and most definitely not the price!!! You can get all of those things and a better tasting meal at Panera Bread...and I don't even really like Panera, but I'm pretty sure you've been their to compare. I sent back my food cause my mashed potatoes were cold, how does that even happen with microwaves!?! The best part about this place was the bar and that is strictly for all the Cougars and their bait. Don't waste your money it's way too expensive for the food.
- Pros: Nice enough ambience.
- Cons: Food is not worth it!!
Macho Macho!
by srow
I have gone to the Cherry Creek Grill for years...even when it was Bandara. I have never had a bad experience, but do think that the service has declined. I don't understand their reservation rule, which allows you to make reservations for parties of 4 or LESS...just seems a bit backwards to me. It is always very crowded and I believe it's because people go back and know what to expect. The service is great. My favorites are the grilled artichoke, their rotisseree chicken, and may absolute favorite is the macho salad. I never knew a salad could have so many great flavors. The macho is the most talked about salad and for good reason! I do agree that the pricing is a bit high and I would love to see some new items on the menu. Overall, this place is great and is an instituation for a reason.
- Pros: The Macho Salad, the large booths and the service
- Cons: Parking and the reservation policy
