Awesome Sushi! You may wait a while for food/table, but worth it!

This place isn't fancy, but the sushi is amazing! Definitely a find among Colfax. My ABSOLUTE favorite is the Salmon Salad Roll. It depends on what night you come, but we visited Wednesday night and the place was PACKED. We waited nearly an hour for our food after we ordered, but every table was full. Maybe this place isn't such a secret anymore? :)
- Pros: Great food, great price
- Cons: Bathrooms are kind of scary
Ugh, disgusting!!!!

Ok, I would have given this place a 1/2 star, but 1 star was as low as I was allowed to rate it. Basically, you could go to any other sushi place in town and have better sushi. The staff were emotionless robots, the place is quaint and cute but a bit dirty looking. The sushi offerings were meager and the sushi itself was tasteless and bland. The worse part was when the sushi chef bent down to answer his cell phone, had a conversation below our eye level, then stood up and finished making some rolls....WITHOUT WASHING HIS HANDS!!!!!!!!! We were so outta there... we just left the uneaten rolls, paid the tab and vowed never again as we both felt sick to our stomachs. Yuck!!!
- Pros: At least it wasn't expensive
- Cons: Chef's don't wash their hands, poor quality food
Authentic Sushi at Great Price
by emily_pembroke
I love Nohana Sushi (formerly Sushi Heights) for the food and the neighborhood atmosphere (small, quiet, free parking in back). The fish is always fresh, the rice is a perfect consistency--not smashed together like glue but firm enough so it sticks together. The nori/seaweed on the rolls is always crisp and never tough or chewy. The tempura is perfectly golden and crispy--never heavily battered. Nohana employs "real" sushi chefs who know what they are doing. The food is always five stars and the value is amazing. The only drawback is that they seem short-staffed sometimes, so I've seen people waiting to be seated. Don't be shy--flag down on of the servers and ask to be seated. Service is always friendly, once you can get it. And the food is well worth it!!!
- Pros: Authentic Sushi at the Best Value in Denver
- Cons: Occasionally short-staffed, so sit at sushi bar, or flag down a server to be seated becuase food is worth it!!!
Best Sushi, Best Price!
by nerdgirlie
I am a sushi maniac. Being that it is expensive, I found that I can get my once-a-week sushi fix and not break the bank. Nohana has EXCELLENT fish at an EXCELLENT price!
When I lived in Stapleton, we would go to Sushi Tazu all the time in Cherry Creek. Now that I live close to Nohana, we go there at least once a week. I went to Tazu with some friends, and it wasn't quite as good as I remembered - Nohana was simply BETTER! Better priced, and WAY bigger nigiri pieces.
Don't get me wrong - I love the fancy Sushi places when going out with friends (such as Sushi Sasa in Highlands), but that ends up being a TON of money. Nohana doesn't have a fancy shmancy ambiance, and that reflects in their price and quality of their fish. They don't have to skimp on quality!!
Nohana is my favorite place to eat sushi. I've eaten sushi EVERYWHERE in Denver, but this one is my personal fave. :)
- Pros: Price. Service. Quality. Flavor. GREAT staff.
- Cons: Plain atmoshphere, which isn't a con if you are going for great food!!!
Good sushi, quiet even on Friday if come early, relaxed setting.

I have gone to Nohana (previously Sushi Heights) for years. Partly because it is close to me, but mainly because it has great sushi and a comfortable atmosphere. I'm not looking for upscale ambience, nor for every possible variation on the menu. I'm looking for good sushi and relaxed atmosphere. Upscale places feel too formal, and are much noisier. Nohana is quieter and less cramped, even with kids whom I have frequently seen enjoying sushi with their families, quiet enough to read a book while dining, especially if arriving at 5 p.m. And the prices are not quite as high as at other spots. I've been to other sushi places in Denver, but still prefer Nohana. // Parking can be tight.
- Pros: comfortable / good sushi
- Cons: parking can be tight / waitstaff can be slower when restaurant is more full.
This cozy joint serves surprisingly fresh sushi to an eclectic crowd.

In Short
A diverse clientele comes to this hidden spot in a brick building on a busy corner seeking reliable Japanese cuisine. The humble interior holds about a dozen tables and a sushi bar. Visitors shouldn't be fooled by the unpretentious location, the fresh fish rivals Denver's top sushi spots. The usual varieties are available, with a few creative rolls and seasonal specials. There's also light, crispy tempura, traditional bento boxes, spicy and filling soups.
They don't care

Me and my date stood at the door last night waiting to be seated forever (and there were open tables). No one acknowledged us so we left. They didn't seem to care.
Great Date Spot

Sushi Heights is a charming restaurant with excellent sushi. I love the location as it is close to downtown but not directly downtown so parking is no hassel! The staff is friendly and it is a great spot to take a date!
- Pros: Sushi, Parking, Service
