Great Food & Service @ a Great Price

by fxoffroad

This restaurant is a no-brainer. It's a slam-dunk if you're looking for great food at a great price. The staff is good, attentive and almost always fun. The food - always good, bordering on exceptional, with a chef who clearly has a handle on great flavor and portions that seem spot-on.

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

  • Pros: Great Food... at a reasonable price
  • Cons: None.

The best restaurant in Cherry Creek

by writeon1

I really enjoy Cucina Colore for reasonably priced, well-proportioned, fresh, authentic Italian food. The service is brisk, the food is delicious and the interior feels modern and inviting. It's also a real summer pleasure to dine al fresco for lunch in particular. The wine list is pleasant and the place is lacking in pretension, which is nice. I've eaten here several times over the years and have never been disappointed. In short, it is a really convenient, sophisticated yet affordable place to have lunch, dinner or dessert.

  • Pros: Relaxed, fresh and contemporary

Great place for wine and desert, but NOT for a date!

by Nancy1213

I am new to Denver, and was looking for a place to have a first date. One of my girlfriends suggested Cucina Colore, and I decided to take a chance on it. Now, while it seems like a very enjoyable place to dine, it is not the right place for a date.

Firstly, while the ambience is nice, it is VERY loud inside. Secondly, the tables are very close together, and it feels impersonal and akward when trying to hold 'romantic' conversation. Thirdly (and on a more silly note), there are just too many women on the staff, and very attractive women at that! From the haunting hostess to our vivaciously gorgeous waitress, my date (and even myself) could not help but have wandering eyes! The service was good though, and we were warmly taken care of. The wine list was also moderatly priced (a rare find these days), and the dessert (a delvilshly good peach bread pudding) was fun to share.

Cucina Colore is much better suited for a girls night-out where noise and a crowd won't be a problem, or possibly for lunch (where I am assuming it is less crowded).

  • Pros: Warm service, affordable wine, delicious dessert.
  • Cons: Impersonal, loud, distracting.

Good Italian for Denver

by rick517

I have lived her my whole life and am used to pretty bad Italian. They do a good job here though. It's a little on the pricey side but certainly accessible for twenty-somethings. It's crowded most of the time but as long as you make reservations, this is a great place (and I have never had Canola oil there).

Tough Critic

by Bayridge231

We had lunch, and found the restaurant very busy so we had to sit in the bar, with very small tables. The reception and service was very good despite the crowd. The food was just OK, not bad, but certainly nothing I would rate as special. I questioned the waiter about the quality of the dipping oil. While he assured me it was olive oil I remain convinced it was Canola Oil. The carpaccio was good, my bolognese lacked flavor , my wifes pork panini was served on awful tasting stale pita bread. The wine list is extensive and just as expensive. The bottle we ordered was not the vintage listed. I hate when that happens, but to their credit they did inform us of the change in vintage prior to serving. My final recommendation...make RESERVATIONS, whether lunch or dinner.

  • Pros: Friendly wait staff
  • Cons: Crowded and a bit over rated

overpriced but decent

by underhill66

Service was fairly attentative and efficicient except that they forgot to inform us of the specials. The food was decent but overrated and overpriced for the portions and quality, even for Cherry Creek. The calamari appetizer was the highlight of the meal, very tender with a light breading and great mustard dipping sauce. Tuna was very good, but dining partners was way overcooked. Bread pudding that so many have raved about was decent but overwhelmed by caramel and couldn't even detect the peaches.

  • Pros: wine list, location
  • Cons: price, parking

Cucina Calore

by deedeehopp

The service here is splendid. The menu mirrors the restaurant with its clean architecture of salads, paninis, pasta, and pizzas. Bread dipped in oil dripped across my tongue and I chose to forgo the salad because the menu looked too enticing. Being bad never tasted so good. A carbaholic by design, I ripped off my sister's pizza crust and left her with a delicate mixture of Grand San Marzano Tomatoes, Fresh Mozzarella, and Basil. Simply addictive. I indulged in the Capellini which I found delightful but a bit dry without the assistance of sauce. The scallops were succulent and the spinach well wilted topped with a tart pecorino.

I managed to pass up dessert for a frothy cappuccino with scoopable foam. We paid the check and continued to chit chat as our water was refilled. I know I might seem like a pizza crust eating heathen but I know that the sign of a good waitress is when she continues to serve you even after you've tipped. If you are into a fresh setting and a mouthwatering meal, click on over to Cherry Creek and join the rest of the chicks at Cucina Colore.

Bread Pudding. That's really it.

by kristie78

The wine list is spectacular and (besides the bread pudding) really the only reason to even consider wasting your time and money on yet another Italian eatery with questionable results. The food was largely mediocre and the service, for fine dining, was seriously lacking. I honestly think the floor was being crewed by highschool cheerleaders...at least, the night I was there.

  • Pros: The wine list and their delectable bread pudding.
  • Cons: Really everything else.
