Gourmet Food at Budget Prices!

by mschnurr

Recently I ate at Tom's a couple of times and tried their catfish and meatloaf. Both were delicious! You should really try the catfish with its crispy coating!! I also loved the mashed potatoes and gravy, macaroni and cheese, peach cobbler (a vegetable at Tom's), and especially the corn bread. All were full of flavor. The portions were large: eat your lunch now and take the rest home for later. There is a reason that so many people flock to Tom's for lunch.

  • Pros: Delicious food!, Large servings, Great variety
  • Cons: No sit down ordering

Going Downhill Yet Prices Have Gone Up!

by healing04

I visited recently, and found some food items to be lower in quality and certain portions much smaller than in the past. I purchased a carrot cake dessert, and it was HALF the size it was a few months ago. Mashed 'taters were watered down, and the "roast turkey" was sliced from one of those gunky "pressed turkey" rolls. My beloved corn bread was also HALF the size it used to be. Barbeque Pork and Beef were very FATTY. Plus, lunch now costs $8.50???? Not good.

The worst soul food ever!

by lezlijo

Toms had the worst soul food I've ever tasted. I don't usually participate in these surveys, but when I saw Tom's listed, I felt it was my duty to let the truth be known to unsuspecting customers.

  • Cons: Bad Food, Bad Food, Bad Food

Top Notch

by monoski72

The food here is unbelievable. I have never had a bad meal. The people behind the counter are always in a good mood and very thankfull for your business. Only $7.20 gets your tummy full for the rest of the day. The menu changes daily and I would recommend getting there early. The crowds come around 11:30am and bring your CASH because thats all they take.

  • Pros: food, inexpensive, service
  • Cons: crowded around 12:00

Mmmm...food that makes you feel

by beef_jerky

Tom's serves some of the best southern comfort food around. Its the type of food that leaves you with a full belly, nice food buzz and liable to put you in a very satisfied food coma for the rest of the afternoon. I love calling their number to get the daily update on their ever changing menu. The guys who cook and serve up the food always end the lunch order by asking "and what kind of bread would you like?"

I highly highly recommend the following entrees (call ahead to see if these are available):

-chicken and bisuits in gravy (my favorite)

-country style BBQ pork ribs

-chicken smothered in herb gravy

-fresh roasted, carved turkey

-meat loaf (always on the menu)

-fried chicken (always on the menu)

also, their creamed corn and northern white beans are really good sides.

Tom's Got it Going

by foggybtm

Very good food: makes you feel like you are in the south. Get you some collard greens, cornbread, cream corn, pot roast, meatloaf, and other tasty dishes.
