I used to close to this restaurant for years and never thought to go to it because of the location and outside decor. Now I moved farther away and I am kicking myself. While the building looks ugly and name sounds cheesey, it is the best Chinese I have had in Denver, hands down. The interior is very nice and from what I hear, the kitchen is very clean. The service was fantastic and the food was great from start to finish. If you are looking for something more American-Chinese, the Sesame Pawns were fantastic. The Ginger Ice Cream was refreshing and delicious. Many of the recommendationf from our waiter turned out really weel and the meal was resonably priced for how much food you get. I will definitely be going back there!

Pros: Food, atmosphere, service

Cons: Ugly on outside, poor location

The first time we went here was to take my boyfriend's dad who grew up in Chicago and who has been on the search for good Chinese food ever since he moved. Since we recently moved to Denver I relied on the suggestions from co-workers and reviews on Citysearch. The reviews were great but I didn't say anything to the parents - I wanted to see what their opinion was first. Our second visit was to take my parents for my dad's birthday. We all ordered the family style dinner for $20 per person which gives you soup, appetizers, an entree and ginger ice cream. The wonton soup is a shrimp wonton and very good. The egg drop soup was the best we have ever had. For appetizers we had lettuce wraps, egg rolls, cheese wontons, and little ribs. All appetizers were just wonderful. The entrees we shared family style and I was surprised by how much I loved the choices of other members of our families. We had hunan beef, pork loin, pork ribs, sesame chicken, pork fried rice, & seafood bird's nest. It was some of the best chinese we have ever had. My boyfriend's parents said it was the best they have had since they lived in Chicago and used to eat in Chinatown. The atmosphere is very nice with large fish tanks - don't miss the 2 orange parrot fish in the middle of the dinning room. They have "I Love U" tattooed across their sides! The servers rarely let you run out of water. My only complaint is that the room is very loud on a busy Friday night. While it is some of the most expensive Chinese food I've ever had it it hands down the best.

Pros: Best Chinese food ever!

Cons: Pricey but worth it, loud dining room when busy

Day in and day out the best Chinese in Denver for over twenty years. Johnny is almost always there at the front desk and is one of the most gracious hosts in town. He trains the staff to perfection and they are efficient, if not terribly friendly but that's ok with me. I'd rather have good service than a new best friend. All of the food is great but standouts are Imperial Rolls, the best Sesame Chicken in town, the firecracker prawns, real Peking duck, whole steamed sea bass and great non-greasy fried rice. All served in a restful, sophisticated setting (no cheap faux-Chinese kitsch). There's a reason this place has been around, and so well reviewed, for all these years.

Pros: the food and service are tops

Cons: it's certainly not the cheapest Chinese in town but worth the extra $$

When my wife and I want Chinese, Imperial is invariably our first or second choice. It's approximately a 30 minute drive from my house, but having tried at least 10-15 Chinese restaurants around the city, we have come to discover what we like. The wait staff is excellent and the food has always been wonderful (Yue Shang Lamb is a favorite). The restaurant is nationally rated (definitely a plus) by Zagat. For us it is not only where we fulfill our own cravings for Chinese food, but where we take visiting family and friends. It is a restaurant we trust will satisfy anyone who enjoys Chinese cuisine.

Pros: Consistently great Chinese cuisine

Cons: Price, but worth it

I thought this would be a wonderful restaurant, what with all of its good reviews. It was terrible - the moo shu was mediocre and the chow fun noodles were an amphorous mass of overcooked noodle glob with some sauce on top! The coconut shrimp were tasty, but not enough to make up for the horrendous lack of customer service. The manager was as non-plussed as one could be when I told him how horrible the noodles were. Save your money, stay away from this restaurant.

Cons: Bad customer service, Expensive, Bad food

We did love out food, but the service was TERRRIBLE. The waiter was snide, sarcastic and rude. THEY DONT HAVE HIGHCHAIRS so we were told to HOLD our daughter (how am i suppose to eat my $20 plate of food while HOLDING a toddler?) The food was slow, any drink from the bar was twice as slow. BEWARE! also VERY PRICEY for portion size, even though the food is good. all around THE WORST EXPERIENCE I HAVE HAD IN A RESTAURANT in the 4 yrs i have been dining with children

Pros: good food, take reservations

Cons: terrible service, pricey, RUDE

Mine is the sea bass with black bean sauce; but I've never had anything that wasn't top notch! I'm pretty picky about where I eat Chinese, and this place is it. I will say I've gotten in the habit of going early to avoid what can be a lengthy wait.

Pros: great good, excellent wait staff

Cons: , so go early

The best Dim Sum around. My friends and I make it a monthly event to go to King's Land and relish the steamy goodness! Conveniently located near enough Asian markets to quench your "can I try to make it at home" needs. Spacious dining area, but you may still have a wait. Attentive service and can't-beat-it prices.

Pros: inexpensive, plenty of parking, good for groups

Cons: decor is so-so

I love this place; the food is terrific. I'd recomend the Fried Shrimp Balls, and the stuff pork croissants.

We haven't cared for the food at the Imperial at all. Never!! We don't understand why, because the same owners operate The Palace Chinese Restaurant on East Evans. The food at The Palace is terrific. Go there instead!!
