Best place to get a tattoo!

by wickedwanda

I never wanted a tattoo, and didn't even like them. Then I had a terrible year and decided to do something totally different. I went to the Blue Door and got a great tattoo. Sherry is great!! She spent time helping me choose, talked to me about options and helped calm my nerves. The staff at the shop are interested in your opinion and willing to talk to you as they work. You don't just sit there, feeling uncomfortable, in a totally quiet environment. They are very concerned about cross-contamination and keep everything extremely clean, which made me happy. I have now been back for three more tattoos. If I decided to get any more I will definitely go to The Blue Door. I recommend it to anyone who even mentions tattoos.

  • Pros: Great staff

The Blue Door is the best shop in Denver, a city with an abundance of talented artists.

by poppajack67

I have been tattooed by several talented artists. Without exception this shop is the best. The work done here is first class. I wonder when the Discovery channel or TLC is going to discover this gem we have in our city. I have tatoos now from both Sis (the owner of the Blue Door) and her daughter Destiny. As another reviewer here implied if you want to take a number and be just another faceless customer this is not the shop for you. The level of personal attention and knowledge is indeed impressive. The services here range from custom work ( recomended) to Henna, cosmetic tattooing, massage and piercings. This shop is clean and friendly. Remember A good tattoo is not cheap and a cheap tatoo is not good! Go check out the Blue Door, you will not be sorry. Now I need to go work some more overtime to afford the next one...

  • Pros: A very talented and personable staff.

Best Tattoo

by secondchoice

Well simply put, You will not find a more relaxing place to get your first or even continuing to enhance your tattoo`s. The group of folks down there are awesome artists as well as good folks to enjoy an afternoon or evening if you prefer. I strongly recommend your take your humor and laughter along as well because your going to need it. By the way disregard the viewers name because this does not reflect my opinion to this shop it is just my screen name that was chosen due to the lack of my first choice of mrfish.

  • Pros: the complete experince
  • Cons: none that stand out

Best service, friendliest staff, good clean fun

by sueayer

The Blue Door has provided the most positive body piercing & tattoing experience ever for me. All of the staff, from Sister Bear, to Cory, Sherry & Laura, made me feel at home from the get-go. Never any high-pressure sales, but rather helpful advice & recommendations as to what might look best. One might think I'm biased since Laura (their apprentice) is my daughter, but I've seen all of the staff working with clients in the same upbeat, professional and personal manner ever time I've visited the shop. They don't rush you right through, but listen to your requests, offer suggestions for enhancing your tattoo, consult one another and the result is a satisfied customer.

I've been to other shops over the past years that don't offer this very personal touch. Those experiences were more like "take a deli number" & we'll get to you ASAP. One tattoo artist even rushed me & my daughters through quickly, implying that the design we all shared wasn't important (and he did a quick & sloppy job on mine).

Plan to spend some quality time @ The Blue Door because they strive to make you satisfied. Don't plan to rush in for a quick tattoo, as you can @ other shops. They're also more than happy to give you a price estimate to think it over and schedule later.

Thumbs up for me! Plan to share lots of laughter, too.

  • Pros: professional, personal, fun
  • Cons: parking behind the shop not always available

Best tattoo studio in Colorado!

by santiago_mathews

"Ooh, can I see your tattoo"? -That's the reaction I get on a daily basis, since I've been tattooed by Sherry at the Blue Door.

I've been to several tattoo parlors since I started to become highly interested in ink. I've never liked the idea of the typical studio that tends to be dark and almost scary for people who want to feel comfortable with the whole idea.

The Blue Door is a very warm and inviting place to be. It's nice to be able to relax, while putting yourself through hours of pain. The entire staff is very welcoming and pleasant, and it makes it easy for someone like myself, who likes to joke around all the time.

I will continue to choose The Blue Door as the best place in Denver to be tattooed.

You can't be punctured better!

by jadedillon

I have been to quite a few tattoo studios, and I can say I was impressed from the first time I stepped into the Blue Door. That was some four years ago now, and I have had work done there eight times since then. There are other good artists out there, but at this point I wouldn't get ink anywhere else. Sister Bear is the owner and senior artist, and she sets an extremely high standard. The setting is casual and friendly but at all times professional. Sis and her staff are knowledgeable and very talented, and the work that comes out of that shop is top-notch. Sis believes that an artist should know the history and science behind tattooing, to the point of making their own inks and build their own guns, and her apprentices must learn these skills before ever touching a needle to skin. Of course, cleanliness and sterility are without question.

And what is it that matters but the finished product? Simply said, the art is second to none and I dare say I would be hard-pressed to find someone who could reproduce some of the original tattoos that I have. There are other excellent artists, of course, but I have actually had some say that they could not touch Sis' work. She has been doing this for something like 25 years and really knows her stuff.

And if what you are looking for is more along the line of permanent cosmetics, come on down because Sis does that extensively. Lips, eyeliner, areolas... you will be happy with the work.

There are other services available as well, such as piercing and massage, but I haven't used those myself.

It is obvious that I am sold on the Blue Door. There is a reason for that, and that is the experiences I have had there.

  • Pros: Skill and professionalism.
  • Cons: Not always right on time...
