Decent food, good service, but not as good as Imperial
by rohank4284
Imperial Chinese is one of Denver's most revered restaurants. My family and I are huge fans of Imperial, the food there is excellent, so we were excited to try Imperial's sister restaurant, Palace Chinese. The reception staff were quite friendly and the spacious dining are is a plus. Our spring rolls were pretty good, the sizzling Spicy Chicken was excellent, and my brother's Schezuan Chicken was good. The food was slightly better than my neighborhood Chinese restaurant, Shanghai Kitchen, however, I was disappointed with my Orange Chicken, it only had a hint of orange and the chicken was gumy, not crisp. I had a sweet and sour soup and it was tasteless. For the most part, the food here was good, but it wasn't extraordinary, like Imperial. The waitstaff were prompt, without being in your face, and were very courteous. Overall, it's a nice place to go for good Chinese, but Imperial is definitely better.
- Pros: Good service, some nice entrees ,nice ambiance
- Cons: inconsistency in the quality of the entrees
Sucky Food

I have never written a review for a restaurant but don't want anyone to get burned like I did. We decided to try Palace because one review said for Denver, it's better than most. Glad I didn't try anywhere else because it was the worst I have ever had and I've had a lot of Chinese food. How do you go wrong with fried rice and sweet and sour chicken. The sweet and sour sauce was very salty, the chicken was very chewy, and the fried rice had little flavor.
- Cons: Food
great cashew chicken

I came with a very large group of people. They put us in a separate banquet room. Service was decent considering the size of our group. Alcoholic beverages seemed a bit pricey, but I guess people don't exactly go out for Chinese for the alcohol. I got to try a variety of dishes. The best in my opinion was the cashew chicken dish. Some people at my table were raving about the Mongolian beef, but it was a little too chewy/gristley for my tastes. This is a good restaurant with good food, but nothing to particularly make it stand out from any other chinese restaurant.
Great service!

I will agree, they do have excellent service. The wait staff was attentive and I felt as though they really appreciated my business. The food, however, was not fabulous. I really want to say it was great, but it wasnt. It was just ok. Maybe Ive been spoiled by great dim sum in other cities. I dont know.... To be specific- greasy, salty and lacking the flavors that I love about dim sum. Give it a try if you like, but it just wasnt for me.

Sister restaurant to The Imperial, this mid-range spot offers kung pao chicken, tea-smoked duck and ginger ice cream.
Awesome Dim Sum!

Awesome Service! The other guy was right, it looks just like Imperial but with better prices. They have the best Dim Sum in Denver. You can always tell if the restaurant serves authentic Chinese food, when most of the clientele is Chinese and this place was packed with them. They even serve the Dim Sum in carts just like in China. The Har Gow is perfect.
- Pros: Price, Service, Family Environment
- Cons: Busy, Parking
Good for Denver

It looks like the Imperial when you walk in and has the same great service, but the food isn't quite as polished as its sister restaurant. Still, for Denver, it's better than most.
