Great Food

by jen024

I don't know who wouldn't like a huge, fresh, REAL breakfast burrito from Viva. There are at least 3 or 4 different locations in the Denver area and I have never been let down at any of them in the last 5 or so years I've been in Denver. I have tried some of the main dishes as well and they are all great! I have never found their food to be bland or "not mexican," and frankly if you compare this food to Taco Bell, you are a fool. The prices are decent, the portions are very large, and I recommend using the salsa on those burritos to spice things up (I have noticed they change their salsa from time to time, so if you're not happy one week, try back in a few weeks). The breakfast burrito has always been my favorite, and with fresh potatoes, eggs, cheese, and chorizo thrown on the grill and cooked AFTER you've ordered, they are always delicious.

Dry and Greasy and really NOT good

by VivaBurritoDefinatelyNOT

I went to Viva Burrito and they must have created their own review on being the best.

Nothing could be further from the truth.

It was trully one of the WORST burritoes i've ever eaten.

Don't waste your money. I was very disappointed

Viva Burrito is the 2nd worst breakfast burrito ever.

by VivaBurritoBreakfastSucks

Viva Burrito is bad! (pardon the spelling to come )

My god... I tried Viva Burrito today off a recommendation as the "best breakfast burrito in Denver". It's not too far from my house so I was eagerly looking forward to it. I ordered 2 burritos to try them both and get the "best" of Denver.

Boy did those burritos blo! They were probably the second worse burritos that I've ever eaten. (1st place goes to a 4 hour old cafeteria burrito that I had at a customer site this year) The only reason that Viva didn't take the cake on the 1st place for worst breakfast burritos is because their burritos didn't sit under a lamp for 4 hours... They tasted like garbage but the nasty burrito was at least fresh... no translucent shell... and no heat lamp burnt corners. I ordered the letter A & the letter D (but got a B despite me using the word "D" as in DAVID). The "B" that I didn't order was the dryest burrito that I've ever had. Potatoes, Sausage, Cheese(never saw it)egg, It was soooo dry and the tortilla tasted of pure lard. I ate half of the burrito before deciding not to waste the calories on it and I tried the second. The A burrito had beans, egg, and cheese... It didn't blo quite as bad since it had a little bit of moisture but it only tasted like beans and eggs.... I got close to finishing this burrito out of pure hunger before I got home and realized that they included some salsa in the bag. I tried pouring the salsa on the B burrito and eatting it again... it was still bad... The salsa was like water and didn't have any taste.

I'm shocked that these breakfast burritos were voted best in Denver. I remember reading an article comparing Viva to Taco Bell... I'd have to disagree and say that I would take a Taco Bell burrito any day over this garbage.

If you've had food poisening and don't want to eat anything with flavor go for the B on their menu and hold the sausage. It'll be like eating saltine crackers... only not as enjoyable with the salt.

Yummmm

by MissMichelle10

The carne asada burrito is delicious. If you're going to compare Viva Burrito to Taco Bell you will find that they taste nothing alike. It's not americanized Mexican food, which makes it unique and delicious. And it's open 24 hours so it makes it even better. The service isn't all that great, and its a little run down... but then again so is every other fast food restaurant around here. Just try it, and make up your own mind.

  • Pros: Tastes Great and it's cheap!
  • Cons: Service isn't that great, a little run down.

Since when is American Cheese the same as Chedder Cheese?

by larry2439

The "WORST' Mexican food (and I use the term "food" lightly) bland in taste and presentation. Sorry but the flavor at TACO BELL is 100% better than this place ... the Mexican food which I'm use to eating from restaturants like the following "The Pec" / El Chapultepec, La Casita (on Tejon/36th), Blue Bonnet, Brewery Bar, Benny's, La Loma, Little Anita's the list could go on ... this place will never be. Hell stop at any joint on Colfax or Federal and a plain tortilla will taste better than anything that you will get at this place. How it got on any List of Food Rating is beyond me. This coming from a Hispanic person that loves this type of food however, Italian is my favorite.

  • Pros: You get the correct change and a receipt.
  • Cons: The Food!

Very, very bland. Totally avoid

by denverboi

I have wondered what this place was like for months now. We were in the area so we decided to try it. God I must have been desperate to eat at this place! I love to try new places but I regret going to this place. My boyfriend had the tamale plate and I had the chili relleno plate. When they both came out we did not know which was which-they both looked and tasted the same. It did come out hot since they nuked it in the microwave first. The food is very bland with no flavor whatsoever. Simple table salt would have helped a bit. I honestly can give credit to where credit is due, but this place does not have it. I can?t compare this to any Mexican restaurant, even the dives are much better in taste. I do wish there was something good I can say about this place. Oh, there is?they serve Pepsi products.

  • Pros: Pepsi products
  • Cons: Burritos & combo plates...

Possibly the best Mexican fast food you'll find north of the border.

by Contributor

In Short
There's no money wasted on frills here--the stores are simple, unmarked buildings--save for the sign--and they're always open. The expansive menu has everything from tacos and burritos to chimichangas, enchiladas, nachos and much more. And all of it is low-priced and comes in large portions. There are also five different breakfast burritos, served any time. Each of the burritos features eggs, potatoes and a another item: bacon, sausage, chorizo, bean and carnitas.

viva "viva burrito"!

by importinsider

If your comparing McDonalds against a restaurant burger than you definitely don't know how to put a review into perspective. If your comparing this place to Taco Bell than your insulting Viva because Viva Burrito has some really good "Mexican" food that isn't as nearly Americanized as so many other chains. I also consider this as one of Colorado's distinctive businesses in a suburban franchise saturated market. You'll also love that this place is great for a late night snack (open 24 hours).

  • Pros: 24 hours, not typical fast food, the taco's
  • Cons: inconsistancy, long wait sometimes

Carne Asade Burrito

by csljacobso

I don't know how this place got included on the 2003 Editorial Winner's List. I'm basing this on the Carne Asade Burrito that I had this afternoon. I received the usual fast-food service except a little slower. The burrito itself tasted okay but the meat was chewy and I had to spit out a huge piece of gristle. I refused to eat the last few bites because all of the grease had collected in the bottom. I can't imagine returning after trying this burrito.

  • Cons: Poor quality

Burrito...what?

by toddw

Not only will I drive thirty minutes out of the way for Denver's best Burrito deal but so will all my friends whom I've told about this hot spot. You must get the breakfast burrito which will run you about two dollars and will stave off the worst hunger pains. The tacos are also good, but the other secret is the "chips and salsa" which are really a large portion of nachos with homemade chips, melted cheese, fresh tomaoes, and onions. These tummy pleasers are a mere $1.50. Open 24 hours a day with a convient drive through, you can't beat this place for value and the taste is way up there as well.

  • Pros: value, taste, 24 hours
  • Cons: ambiance
