I totally agree w/Tricia. Hub and I moved to Thornton specifically, b/c we needed a location close enough to get to Denver easily, but far enough away to prevent us from going - all in an effort to prevent us from eating out so much! Except for Mexican and Vietnamese, we have to drive to S. Federal for Dim Sum (Super Star Asian)/Thai (J's Noodles), downtown/city center/highlands for our current upscale faves (Duo, Osteria Marco, Z Cuisine). We even drive to Centennail b/c of t he value & quality we get at Sushi Wave-their Saturday happy hour/lunch "Sushi Wave" platter is so worth the drive (we can eat up to 35 pieces, and when we get a beer and veg tempura app, it's usually not more than $55, incl tip). We absolutely love Sushi Den, but it's too expensive for us; can't stand Sonoda's quality; Osaka, Tazu and Zanmai are okay, but too far; Mori is good/fair-priced but it smells like bleach inside; Kobe An is good but too far, Hapa and Japon quality is decent, but the price isn't (rather go to Den); we love Namiko's quality (very close to Den quality), but we'd still rather drive to Sushi Wave for the value. Every once in a while, we break down when we don't feel like driving to Sushi Wave, and instead try a place up by us. We were disappointed with Zo Sushi in Broomfield, but the prices weren't so bad for the quality. Sushi Tokoro, on the other hand, is NOT WORTH IT. The prices they charge for the quality (small pieces, not very fresh fish, loose rice) is not great - the quality:value ratio is absolutely terrible. No, it's not as bad as supermarket sushi, but that's only b/c supermarket sushi rice is so bad. Otherwise, the quality of the fish is on par with anything you can get at Safeway. We really wanted to like it, b/c it's so close to our house. We've tried 3 times. It's just not that great. If people think Tokoro is good, they're not really foodies, much less sushi aficionados. Sorry, don't want to be mean, but that's my opinion.

Pros: The only Sushi option in Thornton area

Cons: Low Quality + Standard Sushi Prices = Bad value

What a great experience!! We felt so at home when walked in the door and the food was just perfect that I rate Tokoro with Namikos, just without all the cool fish tanks. Every customer that was there was so happy and enjoying themselves that it was hard not to enjoy ourselves as well. Getting our sushi did take a little time but I was fine with this as I had a nice warm sake to tide me over. Though this was my first time visiting I know I will go back and have no doubt I will not experience the same.

Great spot to eat sushi. the outside appearance is odd but the food is great. Do not be disheartened by the review given by tricia. The order was take out and still was delicious and great presentation. We ordered tofu skins (2 orders), california rolls, tempura shrimp rolls (2 orders), Salmon Nigiri, Shrimp Nigiri and Vegetable Tempura appetizer. All of the items were fabulous. All Items fresh and delicious, did not taste like supermarket sushi, this is right up there with some of the best in Denver. Equal to the place in Arvada and lower in price. I would recommend this to anyone who is looking for great sushi at a great price. $40.00 for all the mentioned items. Come to this place for great food, the environment is ok but the food is not regretable.

Pros: Great sushi at a great price.

Cons: Ambience is ok.

I used to think this place was just ok, now I'm down to "this place is just gross". We are always greeted by this super sweet girl who brings us our drinks. Then we always get this snotty lady who insists on taking our order. I felt like not tipping the snotty lady and handing the tip to the sweet girl. The snotty lady never budges, not on one itty bitty thing when ordering. Oh and you gotta love this one: "Do you want the rice that comes with your order?" Of course I want the freaking rice!!! That's what I'm paying for!!! The lettuce, brown, wilted. I've had better salads at Wendy's. The miso, wattery and tasteless. The rolls, oh I love this, fake crab!!!!!! Why not just pick up your rolls at King Sooper's?? I cannot figure out why Thorntonites rave about all the crappy spots in town. Are you guys for real?? I'm not a snob by any means, and I can handle the strip mall, kind of dirty spot, but come on!! I want my rice and would it maim you to put a little bit of effort into your demeanor?? So my review for this place is: yuck. Give me a break.

Pros: none

Cons: witchy waitress, crappy low grade food, high price for bad food.

If you've never been to Sushi Tokoro, don't be put off by the outside appearance or location. It's in a stripmall next to a bar, but none of that matters when you're inside. I've never experienced a smoky atmosphere that another reviewer mentioned, and we go quite often. The restaurant is small and friendly, the family that owns it goes out of their way to be nice and recommend things you might like, and it's completely unpretentious. I've seen bikers eating next to executives; everyone is nice and comes for the fantastic food. I am completely comfortable taking my small children. The food is consistently excellent, especially the rolls - we love the Buda Roll and the Colorado Roll, and they make it as spicy as we like. The food is on par with the trendy Denver sushi places like Sushi Hai and Sushi Sasa, but the atmosphere is much more relaxed and the people *much* more friendly.

Pros: Consistently tasty sushi rolls; friendly, relaxed atmosphere

Cons: Looks questionable from the outside

While the food and service was average, it was incredibly difficult to enjoy. The air was so smoke-filled by the employees that my Asthma kicked into a frenzy. I would like to find a sushi place near my home (this one is .5 miles from my house) that I could frequent, but so long as the employees are smoking inside, I will travel to Broomfield and Westminster and pass on this one.

Sushi Tokoro is a cozy little place, and the service matches the ambience. The waitstaff are friendly and helpful, and the food is very good. If there is a full house on a Friday or Saturday night, the wait for food can be a bit lengthy, but it's worth it. Since it's such a small place, it wouldn't work for large groups. One time we went with a group of six, and were kindly advised that we could order ahead of time the next time we came with a larger group. The rainbow roll and shredder roll are to die for. It's a great little family owned place, definitely worth a try. My friends and I are regulars!

Pros: friendly, independently owned, inexpensive

Cons: not for large groups

Of all the Sushi resturants we have been to, Sushi Tokoro is the one we keep going back to. We love their food, the quaitness, the value and the fact that it is family owned and operated

My first time there I was very pleasently surprised. Friendly service, good recomendations, and great Sushi. It is very reasonably priced with a large selection. Nice, cozy decor hidden away in Thornton, CO. A good place for those new to Sushi, they will help you select something you like even if you don't like raw fish.
