I must have had a bad day
by DDawg at Citysearch
This was the worst bbq I have ever had. The ribs were drier than the Sahara Desert.
The best BBQ in Denver

I have just returned from my third visit to Sam Taylor's BBQ. There are not enough adjectives to describe the food and how great it tastes. All three times my family and I have ordered the sampler platter receiving sausage, chicken, beef and pork ribs. The sauce and flavor of the food is beyond compare. The service is the best I have had in a restaurant. The staff is always smiling and friendly with the owner always visiting the table to ensure service and food were good. Do not leave this restaurant without trying the home made potato chips with BBQ sauce; they are wonderful.
- Pros: Excellent food and service
- Cons: None
Two times there - two times overcharged my credit card
by TheBerlinWall at Citysearch
Visited Sam Taylor's BBQ twice: I enjoyed the BBQ ribs. Service was usually very slow, even when the place was pretty empty. The chicken we found too greasy. The real bad thing was that I paid twice by credit card. The first payment was charged TWICE to my credit card (once on the day we have actually eaten and again on the following day - how could this happen???) and the second payment the staff "rounded up" beyond the 15 % or so what I wanted to pay as tips)
I am not visiting them again. If you do, pay cash.
- Pros: BBQ ribs
- Cons: Credit card overcharded twice in two visits
I think old Sam is getting tired.

This place used to be better, not any more.
Starting to look run down inside, missing floor tiles and dirty corners.
Fresh, hot potato chips are now cold and stale.
Bun is smashed down thinner than cardboard.
Mayonaise is suppose to be white not yellow!
Slooowww service. If you are not in a hurry you are among friends. I only get an hour for lunch!!!
Oddly enough my favorite menu item is the Philly cheese steak.
Friendly owner comes out and shakes your hand sometimes.
- Pros: Love those hot steamy wash rags after my meal
- Cons: Do I really have to wait for 20 minutes to order my meal?
Great BBQ! Good Service! Reasonable prices.

Was in Denver for work and tried Sam's based on reviews. The food tasted better than I had expected. The decor and furnishings need some updating, but the food and service were well worth those shortcomings. I tried the pulled pork sandwich with fresh fried chips. They were both really good. I took a peach cobbler to go and was not as happy with it as I had hoped. I like a flaky crust, this one was more mushy.
- Pros: Good prices, good taste, freshly made
- Cons: decor

My husband and I love Sam Taylors. We live in Colorado Springs and we drive an hour just to go there. I am originally from Houston Texas so I know barbecue. Every expereince that we've had has been positive and the food has always been great. I love the brisket and the ribs. My husband loves the chicken and the ribs, very moist chicken. Sam Taylor is the best in Denver that I have tasted so far. My family lives in Texas and they always travel to Sam Taylors for the barbecue when they visit. Mr. Taylor is always friendly and greets each table when he's there. The staff is very friendly too. Oh and before I forget, the barbecue sauce and chips are excellent. I've tasted several barbecues sauces in Colorado and none come close.
- Pros: Excellent food and service
Avoid at all costs!!!!!

A 9.5 !!!!!!
Are you kidding....Aviod at all costs..I went a second time (with friends). We were ALL disapointed; however, they paid.
I will take my own advise and not return.
Sweet-sauced, finger-lickin' barbecue served in a massive dining room.
by Contributor at Citysearch
In Short
Each table in the spacious dining room is equipped with piles of napkins and a bottle of hot sauce. The place fills up quickly at lunchtime, so get in early or order to go at the takeout counter. Sweet ribs are smothered in rich, thick sauce, and the barbecue brisket sandwich offers a double layer of beef dripping with sauce, served with homemade potato chips. Sides include potato salad, baked beans and seasoned string beans.
Poor service and fatty food

Great BBQ? I think not!!!
I went to Sams even after reading the last review. I should have listened. The service was horrible and the ribs were fatty. I did not get any extras sauces with my meal and the food was luke warm at best. I was disappointed and will not return.
- Cons: service, food and value
Poor quilty and service

This was the worst BBQ Ive had in the Denver area. The food was cold, service was horrible, ribs were extremely greasy and over priced. The ice tea was expensive and was not offered refills.
I also read another review that was not favorable. However, it disappeared only a few days later. If mine makes it on this site, please beware this restaurant was not good on my ONLY visit.
- Cons: poor quality and service
