On the numerous visits I have made to Boulder, I always go to Q's, or the Corner Bar (which is served by the same kitchen and chef as Q's) for either B/L/D. I have always been pleased with my experience at either location. Q's has a beautiful enclosed patio that is great for people watching and on a snowy winter day is a delightful place to sit and watch the snow fall! If I go for dinner I always do the price fixed menu and I am always pleased with the results! I've had nothing but great service every time, though I would expect the staff to have a little better wine knowledge than I've experienced. But if you know your wines, the list is varied in styles and price. The clam chowder is delicious as is most everything I've had on the menu. The venison, when on the menu, is always my fav! Creative food combinations with well balanced flavors! It's not the cheapest place in town, but the food is worth the price. I always leave full and satisfied! Take your time and enjoy the experience!
Pros: great location, atmoshpere, food
Cons: couldn't afford dinner there everynight (lunch and breakfast more reasonable)

I grew up in the Bay area. I really feel like I know what truly great food, wine and service is. I have traveled to the metro area for some years now and have enjoyed my fare share of what Colorado has to offer. I was recently stayed in boulder and dined again at Q's on a weekend night. The vibe was upbeat but I still felt warm and cozy. I can’t explain enough how fantastic this place really is. The service is amazing! Personable, attentive, knowledgeable and efficient. They are friendly but not interfering. The food is always astounding. Last time I dined at Q's, I had the foie gras as usual to start off then moved on to some very fresh monkfish. I think the monkfish was a special. I have also taken a few clients to happy hour at Q's and had a really fun time and a great deal. The bartender had a fun attitude that was only matched with his personality and knowledge of liquor and wine he is a great bartener a true converstionalist. I cant wait to entertain my guest again at Q's. I hope that you all take this to heart and try this gem of a restaurant
Pros: just about everything
Cons: no free parking

We enjoyed the friendly staff and pleasant atmosphere, but the food leaves something to be desired. I am not sure how Q's had previously achieved a 9.3 overall rating on Citysearch, except perhaps that this is yet another case where diners in cities that have less culinary talent than bigger, and mainly coastal, cities, set their bar lower because they generally do not experience truly great food. We had the chef's 5-course tasting menu, along with wine pairings; the first 2 courses were seafood, and this is really where quality fell short. With today's technology for keeping seafood fresh and transporting it quickly, there is no excuse for serving "fishy" tasting or poorly prepared seafood, particularly in a restaurant that claims to be of such high caliber. Of the remaining courses, the lamb shanks were probably the best, which you might expect from a restaurant located in Colorado. (The wine pairings were also good.) In all, if you order the right things, it's not a bad choice if you're in hanging around in Boulder, but there are better options out there.
Pros: Staff, atmosphere
Cons: Food

We had a very dissappointing time on Easter. We have been going to Qs for brunch now and again for years, and we were disappointed that when we arrived this year we could not be seated (although all tables were open) due to reservations. Went there this morning, and felt rushed to leave (probably because of an upcoming reservation). However, Qs still has excellent food and once they get used to spacing their reservations appropriately things should return to normal.
Pros: brunch, food
Cons: reservation system, brisk service

Wonderful food - try the chef's tasting menu - everything was wonderful, even the stuff we would never have ordered. Service was smooth without being stuffy. A great night out. Don't be put off by the "hotel resaturant" vibe - just try the food!
Pros: food

Q's has apparently taken a page from the Boulder book of restaurant service with its inattention to detail in this category. As with many Boulder restaurants, the expectation is that the clientele is as "laid back" as the restaurateur. With a price point in the neighborhood of $100 per person, Qs should pay more attention. We arrived for our reservation promptly - anything else would be rude on New Years Eve, right? The restaurant was obviously less concerned with punctuality as they were "finishing up a meeting" and asked us to wait outside. At five-minutes past our reservation time, we tentatively reentered the restaurant and were greeted frostily by a hostess oblivious about their lack of professionalism. We were virtually ignored after that for 25 minutes - our order finally taken by a waitress unbelievably ruder than the hostess. The food is amazing though - thus the overall recommendation.
Pros: Outstanding Food
Cons: Lousy Service, Expensive

Q's is Great. How enjoyable to be in beautiful Boulder and have a wonderful dinner, while sipping a great bottle of wine, in beautiful atmosphere. It is nice to not be crowded at your table. Chef Platts food was innovative and delicious. I went back for brunch wich was also good. The staff was very professional and answered all my questions. This should be a stop in any Boulder visit. I can't WAIT to go back.
Pros: parking
