Horrible Place! Staff up front is rude. Conveyer belt services, never start on time. There are so many beautiful places in Boulder and the surrounding area to get massage and facials--I just don't understand the appeal of this place? It's so over priced and not worth it!!! Check out the smaller more intimate places...

My husband loves it, too, because it makes shopping for birthdays or Christmas gifts easy ~ all I ever ask for is a gift cert here! I have also been to Finishing Touch and Sensorielle in Boulder and Essentials is by far the best. (Sensorielle is in second place with Finishing Touch FAR behind. I haven't been to the St. Julien as the prices are sky high.) I haven't found a spa in Boulder that provides a locker room, sauna, steam room and lounge like the one here. I go early and relax on the lounge chairs then enjoy the steam room after. All my massages have be outstanding, and I am picky about my massages. I would agree that sometimes the costumer services leaves a bit to be desired, but I have found the same snotty attitude at the other spas (actually, even more so). I received another gift cert for Christmas this year, and can't wait to use it.

I was recently given a gift card by my boyfriend to this place. I am new to Colorado so haven't had a chance to check out many local establishments yet. Essentials Spa in Boulder was by far my best spa experience to date. The staff is super friendly. The atmosphere is extremely cozy and relaxing. They start you with a nice cup of tea in the lobby while you lounge in your robe. I received both a facial and massage. The facial was amazing. My skin felt better afterwards than it has in years. The massage was so relaxing I left feeling like I had no bones in my body and had an ear-to-ear grin for days. i cant say enough good things -- give it a try! : )
Pros: Excellent service, friendly staff
Cons: None that I know of

I have been an avid spagoer for the past 15 years and Essentiels remains one of my favorite destinations!! They have excellent staff and a great service menu! Airbrush tanning, body treatments, facials, laser services, manis and pedis- they have it all!!! Their new manager Jeremy is so gracious and charming, and the rest of the staff always makes me feel so welcome. I LOVE this spa!!! Plus the location is so quaint- just like a seaside cottage. I take all my friends here for their birthdays- and they are always happy!! Treat yourself and GO HERE!!!
Pros: consistent service, kind staff, adorable location, great shopping
Cons: sometimes difficult to get a pedicure appointment because they are so busy

I have tried out several spas (most of them off of recommendation from this website!) in the denver-boulder area and Essentiels Spa is most definitely one of the worst in terms of customer service and hospitality. I have had six appointments here and not one has started on time... it is unacceptable to me that a 15-minute waxing appointment starts 20 minutes late! The personality of the staff in the front end is mostly generic and impersonable to say the least... most of the women that check you in and out are rude and need an in-service on how to treat customers with respect. I refuse to spend this much at a place that is supposed to make you feel like a queen and simply leaves you feeling like someone inferior. save your money and try out another place- any other place.
Pros: several of the aestheticians are very good- tiffinay and karlee are excellent at waxing
Cons: everything else

I went into Essentials to find out about services, ( I am a spa junkie) I was dressed in regular clothing, clean and clean cut. I noticed that there wasn't much traffic up front- but was over-whelmed by the amount of product and how impersonable the staff was up-front! When you go into a place the person up front should greet you like a patron and/or guest. It was such a turn off, another employee ignored me and didn't even give me eye contact. I don't know what the talk is all about, this place clearly seems like a very cold place to spend time and when you walk in, its like, buy this, buy that.....I wouldn't spend a dime here, I'm sure that there are much better places to spend your hard earned money on and that I did!!!
Pros: That it's in Boulder?
Cons: Lousy, Lousy, Lousy, atmosphere cold and over priced.

I am a spa junkie so I was initially thrilled when my husband gave me a substantial gift certificate to Essentiels Spa here in Boulder. At first glance, it looks lovely. Certainly the robes are luxurious. The women's lounge is nice, if small (there is a small waterfall), and there are products for use in the makeup/sink area. I was able to lie on a beach-like chair and relax and read before my services. Well, sort of relax. The first thing I noticed is that the place is LOUD. The lounge was very full and not only did it feel crowded, but I could hear many voices from beyond the lounge. I gave up relaxing and went to wait for my massage. For the first time, I noticed the employees were rude and snotty. I sat for fifteen minutes and then realized it was well beyond the time my massage was scheduled to begin. As I had a facial scheduled for afterward my massage, I asked an employee to check on my appointments, as I didn't want to miss my facial. I was told they were very busy and to be patient. That is not the kind of service I expect when my husband drops two hundred bucks. When I did finally get in for my massage, it was rough (note: I usually like an intense, therapeutic massage), but when I asked if she could lighten up a bit, she said this was her technique and that it would be good for me. She also spoke through the entire thing. The last thing I want during a massage is conversation. It bears noting that throughout the massage, I could hear everything going on everywhere else in the spa. The rooms walls do not reach the ceiling, and the entire place is open to sound bleeding. The facial was underwhelming as well, as the esthetician did not evaluate my skin before beginning and used products I didn't think were appropriate for my skin type. The shocker came, however, when she applied wax to one of my eyebrows. I was NOT there for a brow wax. I ended up with one, however, and it was not good. Total waste of money and time!
Pros: Robes & frozen fruit in the water is nice (I am reaching)
Cons: loud, rude, inexperienced staff, over priced, not on time.

Normally for waxing, I would go to Wax in the City (since it is their forté), but since they were booked, i decided to give Essentials a try. Ended up being not the smartest move. The wax technician, Nikki, came to get me, and I told her I was looking to get a Brazilian waxing and she made it seem like it was fairly routine. Come to find out it really wasn't. During the procedure, the wax hardened too much a few times and yet she still attempted to snag it off. I was sure that I had no female distinction left after it was over. And instead of offerrng me a cold compress, she merely said "Oh Sorry." And aside from the pain, the cleanup was awful, i ended up sneaking some wax remover out of the salon to take care of the job when i got home. All-in-all, it was pretty disasterous. If you want a good waxing, Wax In the City is worth the wait for the appointment.

I first tested out Essentiels for my Wedding Make-up last spring, upon the recommendation of a co-worker. Since then I have had my eyebrows done there regularly and sent my mom for several manicures and a facial. Every time I have ever called or been there in person the staff have treated me with the utmost courtesy and friendliness. The young lady who does my eyebrows remembers what we talked about last time and the place has a very relaxing and warm atmosphere. Some of the check-in staff even remember my name, and I don't go there more than once a month! Highly recommended!!!
Pros: downtown, professional, excellent staff
Cons: busy

After going to the top rated spa in the Denver area and being disappointed, I wasn't expecting to be impressed with Essentiels Spa. But, I was wrong! The staff were wonderful from the receptionists all the way through all of the staff members performing treatments. We enjoyed the pre-steam before our day began and loved the strawberry water provided. Although not in an especially scenic location, the inside of the spa was warm, inviting, and comfortable. This is the spa I recommend to friends!
Pros: Staff friendliness, Toiletries available , Relaxed atmosphere
