Bad service would have been better than no service.
My wife and I had discovered this place in October or November. We were impressed! The food was good and the staff seemed friendly. We
couldn't wait to go back.
Well, we had family in town in December and were excited to share our new discovery with them! We called ahead and the hostess even recognized the name when we walked in and we were seated quickly with menus. This is when the wait began. We looked at the menus for 10 minutes, discussed what we wanted and made our decision. We had wait staff all around us, but nobody acknowledge us. Not even a drink order. We then asked the hostess about our server and she said she would check. Another 15 minutes went by. Nobody had brought the bread, nobody took our drink order, or even brought water. It gave us enough time to use our phones to locate an alternate. We did, and we left.
Here is the worst part. I understand that every business may have a bad day. They are run by people, and none of us are perfect. I e-mailed the manager via the website to let them know of our experience. We received the same response as in the restaraunt; we were completely ignored. No response at all to the complaint. Being ingored twice like that is insulting.

Best %$^# What?!?.
The menu says the "best Dam...." all over the place, don't believe it. Being a neighborhood restaurant, the family likes to meet here
occasionally for the family style meals. This place has been slipping for years and not getter better with age.
They do offer glutten free foods for those with celiacs disease.

Awful spaghetti and meatballs. I have never had spaghetti with stewed tomatoes on it. and the meatballs were hard, dry , tasteless egg shaped things.
Great staff, yummy food!!. Loved this restaurant !!! I am sooooo addicted to the calamari. I had the rigatoni and it was delicious. My husband had the spaghetti w/meatballs and absolutely loved it. I would go there just for the bread and whatever amazing dip they had for it. I am shocked by the comments on here about their staff. Everyone I saw was friendly and seemed very attentive to their tables. We had a waitress named Nicky who made us feel like family and couldn't do enough for us. We will definately be going back :) For everyone who gave bad reviews, give it one more chance. I promise you will love it as much as we did. Highly recommend!! View Less … View More
Extensive gluten free menu. A friend recommended the restaurant based on the great food and gluten free options. I was not disappointed. The gluten free menu is one of the largest I'd seen anywhere. It's very exciting to be able to order french bread with your meal when you're gluten free. Our server was fun and friendly. The food was great and the portions are large enough that I took about half home for lunch the next day. We will definitely be back to try more of the gluten free options. They were one of the most knowledgeable and conscious restaurants about gluten. View Less … View More
Fantastic, Friendly, and Fun!. I was SHOCKED to see so many negative reviews for Abrusci's! Just goes to prove only whiners post on these things and I would like to set the record straight. Abruschis is a wonderful local restaurant. It has good food, that is very consistant. I don't think I've ever had a bad meal there. Ever. The staff is INCREDIBLY accommodating and friendly. They go out of your way to make sure your meal is correct. I've had them take back food with a smile, when it was my error. It may not be as stanch or formal as some of the restaurants down town, but for my dollar, I prefer good food at a good price, a family friendly environment, and servers with some PERSONALITY. I recommend Abruscis to all my friends and family, we all love it, and I know once you get a taste of this fun, mom and pop place, you'll love it, too. View Less … View More
Food is EXCELLENT! SERVICE has gone down hill!.
I wouldn't say my husband and I are "regulars" so to speak, we live in the mountains, but we do stop by Abrusci's when we come to Denver,
at least once a month. So I would describe us as return costumers.
We have always loved the food and atmosphere, but recently had a very discouraging experience. When I saw the other reviews, I felt like I had to add my two cents in.We came in for dinner a few weeks ago, early, because we were on our way home, and it was so beautiful we sat on the patio. Two other tables were sat after us and were greeted well before us by another waiter. Finally, our waitress arrived. She threw bread down, and with out so much as a greeting asked us what we wanted. We ordered as another table was sat, she left without a word and that was the last time she spoke to us till the end of the meal. She spent the next half an hour chatting LOUDLY with the new table (who apparently she knew) using FOUL language and DIRTY HUMOR. The whole patio kept staring at her, I think others were as uncomfortable as we were.
Another waitress brought our food, refilled our drinks, even asked us if we wanted more bread or cheese. Our waitress did nothing. My husband had a problem with his pasta but ate it anyway since no one ever came back to check on us. We sometimes caught a glimpse of our Waitress through the glass door playing with other employees in the entrance way. We could always HEAR her when someone opened the door to the patio.
We sat forever with empty plates and I finally got up to use the restroom before we left. My husband was fuming by this point and flagged down the other waiter on the patio and asked if he could find our check. As I passed threw the bar to the restroom, I saw our server sitting at the bar DRINKING with other costumers. When told she needed to give us our check, she commented "We could wait!" I was FURIOUS. She was going on about how much she hated the job and wanted to do other things. I COMPLETELY AGREE. We finally got a check and were in such a hurry had to leave. My husband plans to email Steve and complain. If you go to Abrusci's, you will love the food, but request one of the boys to wait on you, or even the pretty girl who teaches Soccer or the Pregnant girl. Both have waited on us and are very sweet. If it's a messy looking, Dark haired girl who is loud and rude, demand another Waitress!

Good to bad.
I've gone to Abrusci's off and on the past couple of years. At the beginning, both the service and food were good.
The last few times, however, the quality has gone downhill. One of the servers is loud and obnoxious, and can be heard from anywhere in the restaurant. This has happened the past each time I was there. As a customer, I've felt like I was more of an after thought and my servers seemed like they were bothered to have me there. And this is when they haven't been busy. They are more interested in socializing with each other.
I will be sending this to the manager as well.

Where's ZERO Stars?.
I have just returned home from the worst Italian meal I have eaten in recent memory, with a dining experience to match. Literally every part
of our meal was poor. When we were seated, we had requested a high chair and after waiting for 5 minutes, I finally had to go get one myself.
It was downhill from there.
Our waitress wasn't even organized enough to be able to tell the difference between Coke and Mr. Pibb- we had to "sip and see".
In terms of the food, the Calamari was extremely overdone and every single entree'- no exaggeration- was overcooked. The "carmelized Pancetta" were tiny hard salty lumps that completely ruined the Alfredo sauce, my pasta was mushy and my son's Chicken Parmigiana dry and tough. My wife had the Chicken Alfredo and the sauce was so poorly executed that it began separating and the chicken, like every other single meat this night, was horribly overcooked and chewy, flavorless and dry.
Needless to say, we did not order dessert.
To worsen an already awful experience, our waitress did not bat an eye or offer anything other than an apology when I shared with her, rather politely, how badly executed our meal was.
I understand a kitchen having an off night, but when every single facet is not just sub-par, but awful, it's time to re-assess your staff.
My family eats out about 3x a week and we were looking forward to a nice local Italian Restaurant to frequent, but unfortunately, that restaurant is not Abrusci's and, as I wrote on my receipt: "We will not be back."
Ever.

Mixed impression.
My wife and I received a coupon to Abrusci's in the mail so we thought we'd drive out to Wheat Ridge and give it a try. Overall we had a
nice time, but I don't think either of us will be saying "Hey, let's go to Abrusci's tonight!" Some points:
+ The service is fine. I can understand why the one reviewer didn't like it - because our server was not friendly per se. He was simply direct and efficient. I actually like that kind of service. I'm there to visit with my wife and enjoy a meal, not make small talk.
+ The Gorgonzola dinner salad was very good. Nuts, tangelo slices, just the right amount of dressing. Nice.
+ My wife's garlic shrimp scampi was also very good. Just the right amount of spice, and the pasta was perfect.
- The atmosphere is off. Felt like a diner.
- I had their self-proclaimed "best item on the menu" - the sausage penne in tomato/cream sauce. I had it baked (an extra $2). When the plate came it was not baked. The server noticed it (and was nice about it) and returned it to the kitchen. Came back about 5 minutes later. I'm not really sure why it's offered baked - that's all they do is spread some mozzarella and run it through a pizza oven. (?) But the dish was bland in just about every way, and there was overly hot water nesting inside the pasta. I can get a much better version of the same dish at Stella's in the Highlands (and the atmosphere will be MUCH nicer).
- Counting the mistake they made on my dish, there were three kitchen mistakes within earshot of our table for the hour we were there. That strikes me as a lot of mistakes.
- I did not think my dish was worth $17 and my wife's, while good, was not worth $18.
The place was nearly full when we were there, but I genuinely don't know what the fuss is about. Might try it one more time, but if that isn't stellar we probably won't go back. There are better places.
