Killer Margs

by RMR333 at Citysearch

Having gone on a Saturday night, there was a 45 minute wait. Luckily, we found a place at the crowed bar and enjoyed one of the best margaritas in town. Got seated, and started filling up on chips and salsa. Though not the best salsa I've had...it's pretty tasty. I ordered the Admiral Guzman's Shrimp Enchilladas. I have to say it was one of the best shrimp dinners I've had....the shrimp were cooked just right and the sauce was some of the most flavorful I've had...I would recommened Hacienda to anybody...

  • Pros: Food, drinks, price and service

BEST EXPERIENCE ALWAYS

by Jen and Ken at Citysearch

My boyfriend and I live in walking distance to Hacienda's and go there quite often. I have to say I got a good laugh at all the bad reviews. First of all, the service can NEVER be bad. The waiters walk with head sets on so that if someone who is not your waiter see's that your drink is empty, boom you have it within seconds. If you run out of chips and salsa, boom it's right there as your finishing it. It's the best experience ever and that is why we have a hard time going anywhere else. We look up different restaurants around the area, but nothing can beat this place!! Try it! If you don't like it, you don't like it! I have a feeling the bad reviews were from people who didn't get their way, or work for another restaurant and they're needing service that bad.

Not Great, but not bad either

by MFD14534 at Citysearch

I'm not a big fan of mexican food in the Denver area. But this place isn't that bad. I would call it a slightly more up scale Don Pablos with better food.

I had the Enchilada and Chili Relleno platter. The enchiladas were fine the rellenos were deep fried with more of a chicken or fish batter on them rather than the traditional egg batter, but they were ok.

The sauces that I tried (Pork Green Chili and Red Chili) were very flavorful.

This isn't the best mexican place in the world, but the food isn't bad and the prices are pretty reasonable. I would go back again.

  • Pros: Decent food.

Well, we just went to Hacienda Colorado for the first time and wow, we loved it! Not just the food, but the service and setting as well.

I got the Steakchungas and my husband got the Carne Asada...excellent dishes! The salsa is fabulous too.

best mexican hands down

by cuxl at Citysearch

This place has the best mexican food in town. Anyone that would choose the rio over this place must be drinking. Great drinks, not just margs. Home made chips and salsa rock. Great seafood and the best pork green chili sauce.

  • Pros: Food, service
  • Cons: can be crowded after work

Favorite Restaurant in Denver!

by nwoolley at Citysearch

My husband and I looooooove Hacienda!!! We go here at least every other weekend. Yes, there is always a wait, especially if you go on the weekend around 7-8 but that is ok with us. We just sit in the bar area and grab a margarita and the bartenders always give you some chips and salsa to tide you over while you wait for a table. And the wait is never as long as they tell you. Last night they said "about an hour" and we didn't even wait 30 min. I love the dining area, it's colorful, loud and full of energy. Just hope they don't stick you in the back room, hate that room! The service is always fast and accommodating. The margaritas are a must! Yes, they are a little expensive but they are strong and I can barely drink 2 of them and I am no light weight! The food is far from authentic. It is VERY Americanized but I still love it. The chicken enchilladas are one of my favorites but my most recent discovery is the Poblano de Pollo. LOVE IT! So good, can't get enough of it . It also comes with a very yummy chilie reanno. My husband loves the spicy fish tacos. We love their rice as well. The beans are just so-so. All in all, If you are expecting authentic Mexican food, this isn't the place for you. But, if you are looking for a fun place with a great atmosphere and great food and drinks, Hacienda is the spot!

  • Pros: Great ambience, food, drinks and prices!
  • Cons: Don't get seated in the dreaded back room

Good food but timing is everything when it comes to prompt service

by thepriceiswrong at Citysearch

Not a truly traditional Mexican restaurant but very good. Best spicy ribs Ive ever had. The problem, which others have noted is that it can get VERY busy. So if you go between 5-7pm expect to wait. I only sat in the dining room once or twice. The bar area is far better, the bartenders are very cool and service is faster.

  • Pros: interesting take mexican food, huge taquila selection
  • Cons: service can be slow at peak times

Excellent Food - Unfathomable Seating Delays

by rrs517 at Citysearch

I have eaten in this restaurant about 12 times - 10 of which were for lunch because it is convenient to my office. The food is excellent but the wait for seating - even when the restaurant is 25% - 50% full is maddening. However, if you are limited for time, you can generally seat yourself in the bar. I personally think the food is excellent including the salsa and their very light chips. I have lost sight of what "real Mexican" or "Tex-Mex" or "Southwestern" food is supposed to be. It is very spicy, which I prefer, and I thoroughly enjoy it, especially the salmon salad. The food quality and quantity and the irrational seating are all consistent.

  • Pros: Great Tasting Food
  • Cons: They Will Seat You When THEY are Darned Good and Ready

Not worth all the hype or trouble-snobby Highlands Ranch employees and attitude

by mo0501 at Citysearch

I live in Colorado springs, and this restaurant is on the way when we go to Broncos games... The first time we went we had to wait 15 minutes for our table, then when we got seated realized there were many tables available, I guess they didn't want to seat them timed too close so created a FALSE wait to pretend they were giving good service (Lobby full and restaurant 2/3 at all times we were there-if you aren't staffed to handle a crowd before a Broncos game, what other time would you be?)

Ok service, I thought the Camerones were ok-the salsa was bland, chips good, service fair but snobby ("I'm better than you because I am in Highlands Ranch don't you know??!!....")

Went a second time the ambiance is ok but you are literally back to back with other people's chairs and if they move a little you feel it (maybe that's why they don't fill it up all the way)

This last time we gave it another try, walked in RIGHT WHEN THEY OPENED at 11:00, and had our names taken long with the other 3 parties walking in, and were told a 15 minute wait. We could see in the dining room and there was NO ONE THERE. They literally took 1 party at a time 5 minutes apart so we did wait 15 minutes for a seat in an empty restaurant!! Server came fairly quick with chips and salsa, took our drink order, brought waters and then told us the bar was backed up (HOW?) so waited for out expensive not so good margarita. It was a top shelf made with good tequila and liquiers, but their Sweet & Sour must STINK!! Take a cluse from Chili's and get some better Sweet & Sour mix, it makes a good tequila taste horrible! Anyway, asked for some spicier salsa and she brought us (jalapeno puree-no kidding) to mix in to make it spicier ourselves( This is milder than Taco Bell-not that we are snobs about salsa) Not great, too expensive and marginal food, NOT WORTH IT AT ALL!! They are full of themselves and for no good reason that I could tell....

A lot of really great food

by popstait at Citysearch

As soon as you are seated, the hostess brings the chips and salsa (very good thin chips and spicy salsa) to your table and tells you who you will be taking care of you this evening. Very nice touch. Promptly, a server (whose name you already know) comes by and takes your drink order and sees if you have any questions about the menu and specifically their signature sauces, all of which are deliciously unique and listed from hot to mild (top to bottom). Try the spicy pork green chile and the spicy queso on one of their giant combo platters. If you are not looking for the gutbuster special, try a house specialty. The Salmon Pacifico is fantastic, The Camarones are little tastes of heaven and the Fajitas are out of this world. Not too heavy on the spicy, the authentic flavors are allowed to shine through. Anything on the menu paired with an icy bottle of Sol or a salt-rimmed house marg (made with Herradura Coin)will not dissapoint!!!!

  • Pros: Good flavors, lots of food, plenty of parking
  • Cons: go early or call ahead
