I signed up at the At The Beach Tanning salon in Parker, CO. I specifically told the stupid girl that I only wanted to tan for a few months before my wedding. She was extremely pushy, only showed me ONE option and filled out my contract after I signed it. I asked her twice if I could cancel the contract at any time and she said "Oh yeah, you just might have to pay a small fee." I later come to find out that when I tried to cancel, the corporate office absolutely refused to allow me to cancel, even when I told them that the stupid sales associate lied to my face. I've since sent them another letter and printed out many of the horrible reviews I have found on the internet. I told them, that if they don't cancel my membership I won't hesitate to take legal action. I can't believe that these jerks are still in business.
Pros: Nothing
Cons: Everything - They are con artists

Bronzeworks tanning no longer exists: It has been replaced by a nightmare of poor customer service called At the beach I was a former customer of Bronzeworks when the co-owner Brent ran the stores,WOW what a change! I feel that it is an insult to still list Bronzeworks tanning as a good name associated with this shop of horrors. The staff lacks any resemblance to good customer service.I walked in after a 2 year layoff and hoped that maybe the new name was a indication of perhaps Brents buyout. WRONG. I stood at the counter for maybe 10 minutes when a young lady walked out of a room near the counter and looked at me and said nothing and proceeded to walk down the hallway. I had to actually follow her to get her to acknowledge me,which she did buy telling me to go back up front and wait. I did go back to the front and she walked back up on her cell phone and at that time another girl came in to tan and this utterly rude employee had the nerve to take care of this new arrival before me. I never would have believed that any employee could treat a prospective new client this badly.I shook my head in disgust replied................. JUST FORGET IT! and walked out never to return, after reading all the bad reviews given to this salon I must agree that At the Beach is making what was once the greatest tanning salon in Denver into what could easily be considered Denver's WORST tanning salon.BRONZEWORKS should be removed from Citysearch Tanning salon names.May it rest in peace..........
Pros: Location would be great for a good salon
Cons: This is not a well run salon

Wow, I'm so glad I looked at the website. I just went into this ATB Tanning Superstore today to check it out, and they had me literally seconds from signing the contract when I noticed it was for 24 months, and she said you couldn't cancel. (The brochure she gave me you said you could cancel with 7 days notice). There were people in there waiting, and the lady that showed me around was extremely pushy, wouldn't tell me about any of the cheaper plans, and said I wouldn't get a better deal anywhere else. The whole thing sounded really sketchy. I just moved here from a college town, and while I expected it to be more expensive in Denver, they would have had me paying more per year than I had in the last 3 years in Kansas. Shop Around!!!

My wife signed up when it was still BronzeWorks and was very happy. When ATB bought them out, not much changed for her. What we didn't know was that the contract had changed. Almost a full year after moving 800 miles away, we found out we were still getting charged. If you've read reviews here, you know how helpful the charming ladies at the corporate office are... Maybe we could get Channel 7 to investigate this scam.... There's a site on blogspot called atthebeachtanningripoff that has bunches of the same type of story. Please educate your friends, and for goodness sake DO NOT SIGN ANYTHING! Not even for "just one session." There is no such thing as just one session.
Pros: None whatsoever!
Cons: Shady business practices, dishonest corporate office manager

Good god. This company is sleazy, the environment is terrible, the customer service is so bad as to be laughable, and if you sign a contract -- as I'm so very, very sorry I did -- you may as well have signed your soul over to the devil. I can't understand why this place is still in business. I made the biggest financial mistake of my life the day I walked in there and signed a contract. Thankfully, I've only got four months left to pay these jerks, even though I haven't set foot in the place for over a year. When I signed up, I still thought the place was Bronzeworks and was pleased by the rating and the reviews on this site. Why hasn't the name been updated? People need to be WARNED AWAY FROM THIS PLACE. It's not a legitimate business, it's a con job. RUN AWAY.
Pros: Maybe it'll close someday.
Cons: It's still open.

I am fortunate to not have ever signed a contract with At the Beach, instead I paid for a lot of tanning credits up front. And yet, even without being a victim of the monthly membership scam, I will not do business with At the Beach any longer because of the RUDE CUSTOMER SERVICE I have experienced. I don't care if the location is the most convenient , or if the prices are the best (and I'm not sure that they are) - - I would rather go out of my way and spend a bit more money to avoid this place. I ADVISE OTHERS TO AVOID AT THE BEACH. Prior to Bronzeworks being bought by the At the Beach, the customer service was good/friendly...the place was clean....and as a result, I never felt bad when I went there. Since the place switched owners and became "At the Beach," this has changed and I have experienced ABHORRENT CUSTOMER SERVICE ON MORE THAN ONE OCCASSION. My guess is that the attitude at the front desk stems (or at least is not prevented by) coporate management because I first experienced rudeness when management folks from Oklahoma came to Denver to "set up shop." SPREAD THE WORD AND LET THE BOYCOTT BEGIN!!!!
Pros: Not enough
Cons: Too many

I am adding onto this review because I am now in collections from this company. I have triued to get a copy of the contract I signed several times because my credit report and the collection agency that is calling me have different information on them. DO NOT GO HERE!!!!! THIS PLACE IS A TOTAL SCAM THE PEOPLE WHO WORK HERE MAY NOT KNOW WHAT THYE HAVE GOTTEN THEMSELVES INTO BUT THEY ARE THE SCAMMERS!!! So, below is what I wrote about this company on March 3, 2008 since then i have had them charge my bank account on a date they are not authorized to charge it for an amount that they were not told they could charge it for and I have had to call two different billing departments to try to get it fixed and I was yelled at because it isnt their problem. I also had to call a completely different store to try to get this resolved because the store at 6th and Broadway was so rude they just put the phone down on the counter and walked away when i tried to discuss it with them. I was then told by all of the people I have spoken to that I cannot cancel my contract whatsoever even if I am a dissatisfied custoemr. Do not go here, do not sign anything, do not give them your account info for any accounts you have because they are just going to steal your money from you. I wish I would have read these reviews or thought twice about it before i went in and signed up. Rude, dishonest employees all the way from the bottom up. The girls in the salon cared less that I have fair skin and can burn easily and they put me in a bed without putting a time limit on it, thank god I had the sense to get out. I did end up with a nice lobster hue for the next three days though and when I called to talk to someone about it they told me I had to call the corporate office. When I did that, the girl Monica who answered the phone was completely rude to me and told me I couldnt get out of my contract and that she would speak with the district manager about the issue.
Pros: None
Cons: The whole place is a con.

I had a bad experience similar to others here. I signed an agreement to have a monthly fee deducted from my checking account. My agreement allowed cancellation with 30 days notice. I tanned for two months before a vacation, and then didn't go back for a month after my vacation. When I went in after my vacation, the girl at the desk told me I had canceled my account. I didn't remember canceling it, but decided I shouldn't keep going anyway so that was fine. The girl at the desk said since I didn't remember and since I hadn't been in for so long that I could have a free tan as a 'thank you' for paying for four months. So I took the free tan and forgot about it. Three months later I found out I had been charged continuously. When I called to complain, I was told that since I had tanned that one time (the freebie) I was liable to pay for everything up until that phone call. I complained about the mix up with my account, which they showed in their records was not my fault, but even though it eventually was escalated to headquarters the most they would give me was two months of 'free' tanning but none of my money back. DO NOT expect this to work out the way they say it will!!! I tell everyone I know to stay away.

The company, Bronzeworks, that owns this tanning salon and many other At the Beach branches is only out to scam your money. I visited this salon to tan before a trip to Las Vegas just before Halloween. I explained my short term tanning needs to the staff. I was mislead about a monthly unlimited tanning package. As a result I put my visa card number on a contract and signed it, thinking it was a one time isolated payment and liability form. I only tanned twice before my trip and the the month ended. Then in November I had another $50.00 charge on my visa bill from this Bronzeworks company. After calling the billing company that charged my visa I learned that the contract I signed was a legal document stating that I must pay $50.00 a month for 24months! Thats almost $1200 to go tanning twice! I called the corporation to explain that I was unaware of the package's conditions and that I can't afford to pay for this membership. The women on the phone were very rude to me and basicaly said "sorry you signed the contract so you owe us the money". The conditions to get out of the contract are ridiculous. You have to show three documentations of proof of moving 50 miles away from any At the Beach location, plus a $75 cancelation fee. What I scam, why would you have a customer sign up for a $1200, 24month tanning contract who doesn't even tan!
Pros: many locations
Cons: Only out to scam your money
