My husband and I have eaten here before. We decided to take his mother, who was in town for a visit, to Red Tango for dinner as she is from a small town and appreciates unique dining experiences. We like Red Tango for it's delicious menu and unique dining choices - not your typical fare. It's spicy, delicious, and different. I forget the name of the dish, but it had tenderloin and potato pancakes and was very scrumptious. My husband had the special, it was some sort of spicy pork. My mother-in-law had the stuffed chilies and absolutely loved it. We really enjoy that eating here is unpretentious, friendly, and free parking! It's a bit of a surprise, hidden in a small strip mall in Wheat Ridge. And the food never lets us down.
Pros: Unique food choices
Cons: not a lot of ambience

I went with a friend during the week for dinner, so there weren't many other guests. The service was fast and server offered suggestions. I have been to plenty of restaurants that claim to be latin american, but they are really just expensive Mexican. The food was delicious and very latin american. We shared an appetizer, a salad and two entrees. Sometimes servers don't like having to bring extra plates for sharing, but they seemed to enjoy that we were having our meal together and sharing. It was a little more expensive than I would have liked, but you can't really get this type of food anywhere that you want. I would have to save this restaurant for special events because of the prices. This is the only reason that I am giving it 4 stars instead of 5.
Pros: Unique food
Cons: A little expensive

We visited on Saturday night. From the moment we were seated in the new back room addition, we felt we had been banned to a "back room." There was no ambiance, music (which was in the other rooms) and incomplete table settings. The menu looked good, but our cocktails were skimpy. The wine list is adequate. The best part of the meal were the appetizers, especially the soup of the day. Side salads were skimpy as well. At $16-$23 per dinner, I expect ample servings. A few portions were small, and all lacked the flavor expected from "Latin-Mediterranean" fare. Service was slow and spotty, although our waiter was friendly and mostly knowledgeable. However, we felt pressured by the rest of the staff who came to clear plates throughout the meal before everyone was done. For an average neighborhood cafe, it works. For something more, it was disappointing.
Pros: Parking, Bocadillos (appetizers).
Cons: Small cocktails, some portion size, flavors, ambiance, service.

I can echo the previous reviewer's thoughts exactly. The service was the best I've seen in years, and the food was incredibly flavorful with ample portions. We went on a friday night and didn't wait at all even though there were plenty of people there. The space is plenty big to handle a crowd. It is worth the drive out to Wheat Ridge. Bravo!
Pros: Excellent service, great food
Cons: Ambience could use some work

Great little out-of-the-way place!! One of the best menus in Denver. They are (so far) not overly crowded. Food is excellent. Service is outstanding. Jose, the owner, is a very gracious host - and always makes you feel like you are dining in his home. They have a pretty good selection of moderately priced South American wines. We've entertained clients there on a few occasions. They were able to accomodate (with quite a bit of advanced notice) a large party of about 25, featuring wines and appetizers before allowing the guests to order from the menu. This is one of my favorite restaurants!

Great food, great service, nicely priced. I was a little hesitant because of the location, but they more than made up for the location with service and food.

This has to be the weirdest location for one of my favorite restaurants to date. Red Tango is on west 38th Ave, on a former strip mall site in the sleepy bedroom town of Wheat Ridge. I was overjoyed at the prospect of not having to deal with the downtown scene (okay, really I just hate paid parking) to get a great meal that doesn't have chicken fried steak on the menu. So far, I've tried the steak and red snapper. Really good stuff, and a decent wine list to go with it. Prices are moderate, and service is friendly and prompt.

When you pull up to its location in a suburban strip mall, your date will think you are taking her/him to a dentist's office. But once you make it through the doorway and the delightful scent of fine Latin American cuisine wafts to the nose, all will be forgiven. A very nice prank to surprise the unsuspecting... Everything on the menu is excellent; moreover they can do pretty much anything in a gourmet vegetarian variation (except, of course, some of their traditional Argentine specials such as Asabuco...) I've been going to Red Tango for several years. Please don't come: after all, it's normally uncrowded. The waitstaff is superb and unpretentious, the winelist is both reasonable and excellent, and the food is to die for!
