CHECK IT OUT!
by SisterPooh
The "new" Brix ROCKS! It's under new management and has a new menu. It's cleaner, friendlier and the food is GREAT! Service was very friendly!! Everyone should check it out! Additional improvements are on the way. I recommend this to everyone!!! The Halibut was great! The Strawberry Cole Slaw unique and delicious. Casual, friendly, yet classy! CHECK IT OUT!!!
- Pros: Service is great, Parking is free, Food is DELICIOUS!
Great Food, Great Service

My boyfriend and I went to Brix last weekend for the first time. We sat in the dinning room - very romantic atmosphere. Our waitress was friendly and attentive, even though the whole back room was full. She suggested the baked goat cheese as an app... it was delicious! We were so impressed! We decided to order our dinner based on suggestions as well... blackened salmon and the beef tenderloin. They came out perfect! You never know what you're going to get when you try a new place, but we were "wowed" by Brix. Our waitress fessed up that she was a newer server, but all of her suggestions were great. Overall, we will continue to recommend this restaurant and definitely go back soon!
Disappointing

I looked forward to an evening with 11 friends at Brix. I ordered the blue cheese salad wedge...they were out (of lettuce?...on a Saturday?) Whatever, I changed it to mixed greens which was good. I ordered the mac n cheese for the entree with the intention of sharing. The waitress comes back 15 MINUTES later and says they are out (out of pasta? out of cheese?) anyway, ordered the halibut which I requested they comp (and they did, but no manager ever came to the table to see how we were doing) Ok, the halibut was very small, I'm not a big eater but it was $24. and around 3-4oz. Glad I didn't pay for that. Everyone was happy with their steaks but my husband had the misfortune of ordering the shrimp bowtie pesto. Well... I felt bad for him, he's a big guy and his dinner looked like it was off a child's menu. There were about 3-4 shrimpy shrimp plus some overcooked pasta... : (
All this was compounded by super slow service (1 hour between appetizers and entrees) no bread received after we had to ask for it, and a waitress who said twice that it was not her fault they were out of menu items. All in all, this was a disappointing experience and Brix needs to step it up. There are too many great restaurants in Denver to tolerate the apathy we experienced at Brix.
- Pros: parking was available close to the restaurant
- Cons: bad service, ran out of menu items, bad value
Wonderful time but.........

My boyfriend and I and another couple went on a Wednesday night and sat out on their patio which I never knew they had. It was happy hour time and I LOVE the fact that you can get 3 started apps for 1/2 off which is only $5!!! We got the Hummus, the olive plate and the wonderful pesto dip which was so fresh and good. When dinner came out I was shocked that my Halibut was as small as it was for $24. But after I ate it I was perfectly full and didn't have to go home with leftovers that I never eat anyway. My one an only complaint was the way the staff dressed. The decor and feel that Brix gives off is upscale but casual and relaxing, however, our waitress was dress in a hoodie that was too short and it was showing her stomach and flip flops. I thought that if you worked in a restaurant you HAD to wear closed toed shoes. I was so confused why she was dressed like she was going to the park. Ohhh well the experience was overall great and I would go back. Plus.........there is a free parking lot right next to it starting at 5.
TONS of POTENTIAL, but...

I was SO expecting more than I got here. I was expecting something along the lines of Potager, but perhaps I was expecting too much. The wine we had was fine, nothing great, but the food, well, I could have done better, and that's not saying much. I ordered the pork loin and it was dry as the Mojave desert! Talk about over cooked! And our waiter was very laissez faire in his service. I would have had 2 more glasses of wine had he been just a wee bit more attentive. It's hard, but that's the waiters job, to walk the fine line between being an overzealous flair wearing Chili's waiter to being someone who watches your glass and makes sure you never are hunting him/her down. I know this place is supposed to be mellow, but come on! I DID like the music and the irreverent decor. That's novel for Denver, but all that can't make up for LAZY service, and bad food. I hope the waiters, cooks, and management periodically check into City Search to see how we they measure up so they can correct their mistakes. This place has lots of potential.
- Pros: Hip Joint, Cool Music
- Cons: Bad food, waiters
Love it

The wine list is fantastic, and the pours are generous. Much of the list is availble by the glass. The bar menu is large and the roasted pepper and goat cheese pannini is to die for. I like that the offer an olive plate (instead of chips). Dinner is great too. Not too pricy, and the staff is very attentive.
Quirky, fun Cherry Creek eatery emphasizes comfort food.

In Short
A calming yellow glow illuminates the lively narrow bar, which consists of a banquette with cozy tables, contemporary lighting and exposed brick. The candlelit dining room feels comfortably upscale, yet casual. The eclectic menu features bacon strips and a poached egg propped on a lightly dressed spinach pile, and a plated beef stew over mashers. Large, juicy burgers and Hebrew National hot dogs are a hit with big and little kids alike.
don't bother

We were all disappointed. The wine was good, that's all I will say. The food was so average, I wondered what we were doing paying for an upper-end meal. If the gazpacho was flavorful, you couldn't tell, due to the overpoweing fennel (fennel in gazspacho?). The egg and bacon salad contained a pile of spinach drenched in dressing, one poached egg and three strips of bacon = boring with lousy presentation. The meatloaf was cold and the sauce was too sweet--less like ketchup, more like cough syrup. The paella would have been better if the rice was cooked all the way and if the saffron was present. Moreover, the chicken in the paella was bland and tough. Brix needs to lessen it's trendy attutude in favor of quality food, or this Cherry Creek establishment can kiss any repeat customers a bland farewell. They should turn the music down, too.
- Pros: good wine, good service
- Cons: bland, boring food, pricey, way too loud
Disappointment

I had heard a few good things about Brix, so my boyfriend and I decided to dine there the other evening. We were extremely disappointed when we opened our menus. I guess we were misled by Brix being referred to as a bistro. It seemed more like an upscale diner. We decided to order appetizers only. The tuna appetizer was bland, calamari unoriginal, and the duck flauta was greasy and flavorless. We ordered some others that are not worth mentioning. The goat cheese dip was the best, but it is pretty hard to screw up cheese (except it lacked seasoning) and the crostinis seemed rather stale, not just crunchy.
Also, for being named after a scale system for wine, the wine list was not very extensive. Brix seems like a great place for your typical Cherry Creek yuppie to hang out at, not to dine.
- Pros: ambience
- Cons: food, parking
Smoke and Music
by rdendin
We dined at Brix on a Monday night. Smoke from front bar area permeates to back. Music was more for a 20s-something bar. Duck salad was very average. Pasta farfalle with sausage was salty and almost inedible. We have been to most of Cherry Creek's restaurants, but we won't be back to this one.
- Pros: Free Parking, Bright
- Cons: Smoky, Poor music choice, Below average food
