I agree with ginger. its a sports bar. why would you take your kids there and then grip about it being a bar. I personally enjoy going there for pool or to watch my football games. Its of course a bronco bar but if you have a different team it is assured you can see it

Pros: pool players welcomed

FIRST i WOULD LIKE TO SAY SAY, IF YOU DON'T GET THE WORD "PUB" MEANS A BAR YOU ARE AN IDOIT!! IF YOU ARE GOING TO RATE THIS PLACE MABYE YOU SHOULD SIT IN THE BAR AREA. IT IS A SPORTS BAR NOT A FAMILY-FREE-FOR-ALL. I WOULD NEVER BRING MY CHILDREN OR PEOPLE I WANT TO IMPRESS TO A SPORTS BAR. YOU LOOK LIKE CRYING CHILDREN. IF YOU ARE A SPORTS FAN THIS IS THE PLACE YOU WANT TO GO AND WATCH YOUR TEAM WIN OR LOSE! AND I DON'T OWN THE PLACE OR WORK HERE NOR DO I HAVE THE TIME TO GO RATE EVERY RESTAURANT OR "OXYGEN" BAR LIKE THIS SAD PEOPLE CAN!!!! MAKE UP YOUR OWN MIND, KNOW WHAT YOU ARE WALKING INTO(PUB/BAR)AND DECIDE FOR YOURSELF!!!!!!

Pros: SPORTS,WHICH IS WHAT INTAILS A SPORTS BAR

Cons: PEOPLE WHO POST SITES AND THINK THAT THEY ARE GOD

This place gets 2 stars because the food quality was not bad. The place itself, however, was shall we say "less than appetizing". Place reeked of smoke and stale beer (not fresh), I guess the cleaning crew must go over it once every 3 months. Waitresses looked more like the stereotype you associate with E. Colfax - tired, washed out, upper-end of middle age...you get the idea. Had to wait approximately 20 mins for a simple burger and fries on a night the place was maybe 25% full if that. Smell was so bad in some areas it made my gut clench. I had actually gone here on a scouting mission to see if it was a good place to go with friends, and I'm happy I did it -- I'd gladly veer off from this place.

Pros: there's an exit door which you'll gladly use.

Cons: stinky. slow. dingy.

Horrible experience here last night.....slow wait staff, who just seemed like the don't really care. The food was average at best, and we got grouped with another group next to us (even after asking to be kept separate), to give the server an auto 20% gratuity. Won't be going back, and wish I could give less than one star. (Honestly, the people on here giving 4 and 5 star reviews have GOT to be the owners and/or workers for this place.) Don't waste your time with this place.

Pros: they wish.

Cons: place is a dump, slow wait staff, very average food, "our computer will only run 3 credit cards", grouping with others for automatic gratuity, the list goes on and on.......

After a Thursday night softball game about 8 of us decided to go to City Pub tinstead of our regular bar. Four of us arrived 10-15 minutes before the rest so we ordered 2 pitchers of beer. We didn't get the pitchers until the other four had joined us 10-15 minutes later. Keep in mind the bar is not busy - maybe 20 people max. After the pitchers came we didn't receive glasses for another 5 minutes accompanied with an excuse that they are running low on glasses which was hard to believe because the place was maybe a quarter full. Food took an aweful long time and was o.k. at best. The best part of the night was that the waitress put all eight of us on the same bill so gratuity would be tacked on automatically - probably because she knew we wouldn't have left much for the s**tty service. She didn't even ask if we wanted the bill split up or that four of us ordered before the other half even arrived. After all of this we were charged too much for our pitchers which we had to get the bill corrected, then we were told their computer only accepts 3 credit cards / bill so a few of us really got screwed. In this day and age, most people pay with plastic so it would make sense to me to at least warn us about this issue or ask if we would like the bill split up. Needless to say, we will not be going back, ever

Pros: none

Cons: reeeeeaaaaally crappy service

CityPub South is a nice bar & grill operation. I particularly like their burgers, fries and onion rings but they have a nice variety of "pub fare" type food. Service can be slow some days but that's not unusual for this type of eatery/drinkery. Parking is tight most evenings but seldom completely full. For folks who want a "destination" bar, not just a good meal with a beer or two, they have pool tables and the like. They deliver good value for the price, in my opinion.

Pros: Good pub food, good beer

Cons: tight parking lot

First and foremost, we love CityGrille. The burgers are 1st rate, service casual but attentive at the same time and a good drink can be had here. We attempted CityPub a year ago but with a one year old, didn't dare go in because you could smell the cigarette smoke halfway through one of the worst parking lots in town. Tried again last night. Thought there was a law against smoking in businesses now in Colorado. If that's true, the lingering smoke from last summer is horrible. The entire bar reeked of cigarettes. Think about a wash down or paint job, please. Decided to ride it out., since it was getting late. Waitress made an off-color joke about "Doggie Style" (Flying Dog beer name) in front of my wife and child. Don't worry, we're not prudes and could handle it but thought if you got some straight-laced people in there, this could cause the manager a headache. Service not fast but not painfully slow. We thought we would try two of our old CityGrille reliables, since they share pretty much the same menu: The CityGrille burger and the chicken burrito with what they call the best green chile in town. We started with the chips and salsa. Good, fresh salsa but @ $3.50? A little spendy I though for a pub. Burger was very good but the bun, was a little old and dry. Chicken burrito was tasty as usual. Not the best green chile in town but not a bad recipe. Do we go back? CityGrille yes, CityPub, only after we hear it's been cleaned up both inside and out.

Pros: Food is not bad

Cons: Smells of smoke, parking lot is full of holes in the summer, ski hill in the winter

I was suprised by the bad comments on this site. I frequent city pub with a group of friends about once a week and have always been very happy. It's a local haunt with a down home atmosphere. The servers have always taken good care of us and the food is great! Even when the pub is hectic and understaffed the girls still joke around and make us feel welcome. This is not a fine dinning restraunt, but rather a casual pub with good people, and good food. To everyone complaining about the service give me a break! as for the prices, get over it! If you want a place to go where people care enough to remember what you drink after your second visit, then City Pub is the place for you!

I had an incredibly awful experience at this restaurant. The first time I came I was on a weeknight and I had no problems. The second time was a Friday night and apparently someone called off. It was 22 minutes after arriving when a table cleaner asked us what we'd like to drink. 37 minutes after arriving we were greeted by our waitress. "Greeted" is probably the worst term to use because she didn't say hi or apologize for the wait, even after she helped a table that came in after us first. She said "Are you ready" and then left. Literally. Then our food came fairly quickly- maybe twenty minutes later, but the waitress dropped it on the table and then walked off, not asking if we wanted anything else or offering to refill our drinks. Lastly she left the bill on the table, no thank you. What if I wanted dessert? To top it all off, I asked if the tablecleaner if anyone was watching the show on the television, and if not if I could have it changed. She said she'd get back to me. After walking by my table multiple times, she never commented. I then went and asked a waitress in another room by the bar. She said she didn't see any reason why not but she would have to check. After about a half hour, I actually got up and asked every single table in the room politley if they were watching it and if they would mind if I changed it. They all said no. Then I asked the tablecleaner if we could change it again and she said someone else was watching. Perhaps it was on a satellite and another part of the bar was watching it. However the least she could have done was let me know. Poor decision-making. If you have customers backed up, you should make an effort to make them comfortable. I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone. I have never had such an awful dining experience ever. The food is fairly decent but the service is not worth it. Nancy

Pros: Decent Burger

Cons: Awful service

Let me tell you about my experience. First, the waitress waddled over and asked what I wanted to drink in the raspiest voice I ever heard due to her nasty chest cold. I ordered a New Castle which I later found out was $4.25, ouch! (I don't mind paying that much for a New Castle at McCormicks but not City Pub South. After about 25 minutes of nursing my beer, I'm ready for another beer, oh goody here comes my waitress, she stops at the only other table that has any patrons eating when finished she turns and goes back to her perch next to the bar. Ok, I'll go up there. She rasps out "Oh, did you want another beer (cough, cough, "why yes I would, I would like to try a Wednesday Special beer. Two minutes later she brings a IPA because they are out of the Daily Special Beer. That's Ok, I usually like a IPA, But this one was BITTER Ewww Finally, my wife shows up so we can have dinner together (the waitress knows I'm waiting for her before we order anything. 5 minutes later my wife goes hunting for our waitress so we can order. Great, orders in I'm starved. A little while later our food shows up via the bartender because our waitress "is on break". Dig in while it's hot! Not. Maybe warm at best. My pub burger with cheese is not worth the $10 dollars I payed for it. I'm not sure what year it was voted best burger in Denver but it wasn't within the last 2 years. After the first bite I heard this faint mooing sound and I couldn't figure out where it was coming from until I looked at my burger. I ordered medium well and I got medium rare. Nice. My string fries were ok but my wifes were left overs from what the cook whipped up for the only other table that was eating from half an hour ago (hard and greasy), yummy. Now for the bill. We had a 2for1 coupon (thank god) which the bartender said she took off but didn't until I called her on it. Tacky. Don't bother going unless you just want to drink Domestic beer

Pros: None

Cons: Expensive Import beer and expensive food for what you get
