This is not Thai...

by schlimenhaumer

When I first walked into Thai Basil, I wasn't expecting an authentic Thai experience. The decor seems overly done and there is Chinese writing everywhere, which would be forgiveable given a good culinary experience. The food was terrible. I ordered the drunken noodles with chicken, which were way too sweet and had absolutely no spice to them; there was no option to order different levels of spice like there are at most other Thai restaurants. If you're looking for authentic Thai food, there are many other places I would recommend going to before this one...

  • Pros: Fairly good service...
  • Cons: Food, ambiance, a bit pricy for what you get...

Great Thai Food.

by DenverBusinessCritic411

The atmosphere was nice, the restaurant was well decorated. They have a few private booths that may be available if you request them (I think it seats 4 ??). Since we do not have children we always end up in really small tables for two but surprisingly the tables were large enough that we did not ask to be moved. The wait staff was very polite and accommodating, the food was out quickly and they refilled the water and soft drinks as needed. The food was absolutely delicious, but the only thing missing was the lack of original desserts. They only had four desserts on their menu which were the standard chocolate cake, cheese cake, and some kind of apple pie.

  • Pros: Atmosphere, Great Service, Great Food, Great Price and good amount of food, Plenty of Parking.
  • Cons: Lack of original desserts :(

Excellent food and atmosphere, great staff

by drstevek

We used to live near the two best Asian restaurants in Denver, Moongate near 7th and Quebec, and Little Ollie's in Cherry Creek. But we just got back from Thai Basil again, and had to agree its probably the best Asian food and restaurant atmosphere in the South Suburbs and equal to the others. The Thai Vegetables and the Green Curry with Tofu, Chicken or Beef were fabulous. Once you have been there once, your mouth will water just reading reading their menu. Bon appetit!

Overly done interior, terrible food

by godfober

When you walk into Thai Basil at Park Meadows, the interior will WOW you... I mean, they really went out of their way to decorate the place so you feel like you are in some Southeast Asian country. (But not necessarily in Thailand) They had lots of waiting staff so the seating and service was good. Unlike lot of Thai restaurants in Denver, the place was a very spacious so we were pleasantly surprised. But the bigger surprise was waiting for us... their food was just terrible. It was like someone ran to a grocery store, picked up those canned Asian food, dump it into a wok and mixed it with Panda Express leftovers. We went to Thai Basil to get Thai dishes... but that's not what we got and it's too bad because we were in search of a good Thai restaurant near Park Meadows area.

  • Pros: Great interior, lots of staff
  • Cons: Food is no good

Great atmosphere, great customer service, great food.

We always notice the restaurant when we are headed someplace else in the area. Finally we made a point to head there for dinner. We were enjoying all the wood carvings on the way in. It was 5pm on a Saturday night so there was NO crowd. There were only 3 other couples in the restaurant. We were seated in a little enclosed booth. Really neat atmosphere. Table was a little far from the benches, but still neat. We started with the Tokyo Roll for an appetizer. We were amazed at the quality of the fish. I had tea and it came in a nice sized teapot which was nice. Main meal - Tofu Basil - signature dish with tofu instead of chicken, and garlic chicken. Very tasty - not spicy in the least, so add the chirashi if you like heat! But the taste was wonderful. We would definitely go back again! Our server was very attentive, helpful, and just great!

  • Pros: Can be romantic or casual, good food, good service
  • Cons: Not much spice
