Not the best place to eat Mexican in Boulder. Look close by for Juanitas and The Rio as much better options. Tahona is trying to hard and the food wasn't the best. We had to wait for our server to approach our table and even then was not real interested in us. No thank you

I really enjoyed my experience here, not your average Mexican food. I found the menu to be extremely inventive. I ordered the shrimp mojo for my dinner, and it was delicious. The food was much fancier than a typical Mexican restaurant, but the prices and the atmosphere made it casual and unpretentious. The tequila selection is incredible and the staff is extremely knowledgeable about their product. I never thought drinking could be so educational. My waiter in particular was charming. I would recommend Tahona for a nice dinner or just to hang out with some friends. One of the best meals I have had in Boulder.
Pros: Fine Dining in a casual atmosphere
Cons: Parking on Pearl Street can be annoying

Loved the food, the libations and the service. It was a nice alternative to the typical approach by most of the Americanized Mexican food joints in the area. Instead of getting an oven-hot plate with your entree drowning in a sea of refried beans, orange-painted rice and a seaweed-esque mat of velveeta topping it off, I was surprised to be able to truly identify and savor the food I had ordered. In stark contrast to the Rio, you don't have to down 2 or 3 margaritas to enjoy the food and blur the rest of your evening. In turn, the atmosphere oozes warmth and class. You would be glad that you took out of town guests or a date to this happenin' spot. I haven't tried their dance parties to date so the jury is still out on that stuff. The one bit of constructive criticism - please remove the Patriots' memorabilia from your bar area...truly offensive to a Dolphins fan:)
Pros: Great Taste
Cons: Small Portions

For the good: Great atmosphere, decent food, good tasting drinks Bad: tiny portions, over-priced food (and not stellar, just decent), and although drinks taste good, there was practically no alcohol in them. Be forewarned, they charge for chips and salsa. They also are running some kind of strange obsession with pickled vegetables. We had the fish tacos - and like I said - they were decent. The fish was well flavored. The rice and beans, however, appeared portioned for an infant - there was a tiny plate brought on the side with a sprinkling of rice and so few beans I could have counted them. I'm not one of those people who crave massive portions - Definitely a European style eater who enjoys tapas and small tasty portions, but this was so small it looked like those jokes about NY chic-chic restaurants. I guess I just get put off when I feel a restaurant is trying to pull one over on me - It feels as though the owner is nickle and diming the patrons - shaving cost off the top with tiny portions and weak drinks to pay the probably exorbidant rent at a prime Pearl street location. I have sympathy, for sure, but it doesn't make me want to return. If you're looking for excellent food - go with the Kitchen - the food tastes like a work of art. If you're looking for yum Mexican, I'd go with Rio Grande - the margaritas are excellent and the food is reasonably priced, filling and tasty.

Boulder's new, Tahona Tequila Bistro boasts over 100 different varieties of tequila. And where there's tequila, you know margs and tacos are sure to follow closely in tow. But here, the margs have fresh squeezed lime juice and come in about as many varieties as the tequila. Their best selling tacos are made from all natural ingredients and served with homemade condiments, like salsa and sour cream. (Take that, shredded cheese users). However, that's not all you'll find at this mod version of classic Mexican flavors. For the rest of this review, go to: SoStyley dotcom

Great tacos (wish they used two torillas so they would not break apart) excellent drinks. Really solid place. Enjoyed.
Pros: Good Food, Well Made Drinks
Cons: trendy restaurant in a box decor

This Saturday we stopped in at Tahona for the first time and were pleased. The service was top notch and the list of tequila's were good but, not complete. I have have more tequila's at other places and my favorite was missing Chinco. Overall I would recommend Tahona.

Love the tacos, tamales, and of course, the Dons!! This tequila bistro is just what Boulder needed!! The Rio is so old-school. Tahona is fresh, fun, and new!! If you are into fish-bowl margaritas with crappy mix go to the Rio. If you have a touch of class and can appreciate good tequila then Tahona is the place for you. Even the name "Tahona" shows the authentic style that the owners are after. I finally made it past the bar and tried your main entrees in the dining room! Very unique, very flavorful, and the dishes remind me of Central America. This is one of my two favorite bar/restaurants in Boulder. If you like Rhumba, expand your palate to Tahona. Very flavorful!!

I've eaten here quit a few times since they've opened. I have consistantly had great dining experiences. These folks clearly have the passion it takes to have a top notch restaurant in Boulder. If you have not checked this place out I highly recommend it.
Pros: right on west pearl street

I dream about the tacos all day on wednesdays.....sitting down with a few of the tacos and a caliente mujeres (a spicy mango marg~!) makes my week and has quickly become MY TRADITION! This place is really something not to be missed! And the new menu - is INCREDIBLE!!!!
