After many dismal experiences with other salons, a friend referred me to Chicago Hair. There I found a soothing and professional atmosphere with friendly staff. I was in need of a color touch-up and braced myself for the 'rusting scalp' outcome that every other salon gave me before getting my color right. My dark brown hair always pulls red, even when using an ash base. I was AMAZED when David got my color perfect with his first attempt. That had never happened before! He also did a fabulous job of cleaning up my cut and recommended some products that really work for my hair type. I highly recommend David and Chicago Hair.

Pros: parking, hot tea, scalp massage with cut

I have very curly, difficult to work with hair. I have been going to Liz for haircuts for about 4 years. She gives me great haircuts-which include a relaxing scalp massage. What I most appreciate about Liz is that she spends a lot of time listening to what worked and didn't work with the last haircut. She has told me she believes you have to be able to be frank about what you want and she walks that talk. I feel very comfortable telling her about changes I want to make. I appreciate the time she takes to do this and feel that this quality is what makes her an exceptional hairstylist.

I have absolutely unruly and impossible curly hair, which I had been trying at various lengths over the year. I had it cut short about 7 years ago, and it looked awful, so I decided never to do it again. However, having long hair was getting to be a pain and I never had the time or incentive to do anything with it. Grudgingly, I decided to give short hair another try. I went to David at Chicago Hair (although I'm sure anyone there is fantastic). Not only did I get splendid, attentive service and a fabulous head massage, but I was convinced for the first time in my life that short hair can look good on me! I went in with only a few pictures of a haircut that looked vaguely like what I wanted, and explained a little bit what I was going for. 45 minutes later I came out and I had exactly what I wanted! I go to school in Boston, but I'm definitely planning on waiting until the next time I come home to Boulder to get my hair cut again.

Pros: Great haircut, great atmosphere

Cons: Costs more than a cost-cutters haircut, but worth it!

I have been getting my hair done at Chicago Hair now for 3 years and have never been disappointed. They are always welcoming and friendly, not to mention very professional. The salon is a beautiful, clean, comfortable place to get pampered. Laura Prescott is an excellent stylist. She always has helpful suggestions to make you look your best. When I cut off all my hair, she helped me choose a style that was hip and specific to what would work best with my face and style. She is very nice and great to be around. I will never go anywhere else and already have everyone I know seeing her. I highly recommend Chicago Hair. You won't be disappointed!

I just got my hair cut the other day at Chicago Hair and I'm SO happy with it. I'd been to other salons (Zing and Fix) and wasn't happy with my cut or color and didn't really like the atmosphere--too loud and too crazy. When I walked into Chicago Hair, it was immdiately different...the receptionist was really friendly and offered me a hot cup of tea and went to get the stylist right away. The salon is really cute and you just feel really relaxed as soon as you walk in the door. Laura was my stylist. She actually talked to me about what I wanted and really made sure that I was going to get what I aked for. The color is PERFECT and the cut is the most flattering cut I've had in forever!! I'm so happy with it : ) She talked me out of really choppy layers and instead gave me softer layers and some longish bangs and I LOVE IT! I also got some of their shampoo (Bumble&bumble) and it SMELLS SO GOOD! Overall, it was an AWESOME EXPERIENCE. Everyone who worked there was so friendly and I loved the salon! I even referred my boyfriend in there and he got a great haircut, which doesn't happen often : ) Check them out-- you'll be really happy you did!

Pros: loved the salon, great consultation, very skilled

Cons: parking is in the back-- make sure you remember that!

I got my hair cut by David and it was incredible. This is by far the best haircut I've ever had. David helped me find the perfect haircut and I love it so much. He was friendly and professional and very talented. A cut here includes a head massage that is to die for, an excellent cut and top notch products. Best experience and best cut I've ever had. I'm never going anywhere else.

So..I am the girl who gets a hair cut once every six months and never have any idea what I want when I walk into a salon. I went into this place, sat in the chair and said, "make me look cute.” I provided Laura with two guidelines: cut “x” amount off and I want it to be low maintenance. The experience started with a wonderful head massage, then a washing, and then the haircut. It was clear that Laura was taking her time and really putting effort into making sure that I had the best hair cut possible. After a thorough blow-dry and style, I walked out of this salon with the best haircut I have ever had! I immediately came back to the office and provided a co-worker Laura’s card. I will continue to go back-maybe even make a visit more than twice a year!! :o)

I am new to the Boulder area and after trying a few other salons with not much luck, I turned to City Search to see what information I could find. Everything the previous reviewers wrote was correct and I have the best haircut I have had for quite some time. My color was in a terrible state and it is on its way to being corrected - it was so bad that it will take a few more appointments to get it just right but I have every confidence that Chicago Hair Can do it for me.

Pros: very friendly but not intrusive; knowledgeable staff and they consult freely with each other about the best way to proceed for problem hair.

Cons: None that I can think of

I came to Colorado to relax and recover from a surgery. I decided to try out Chicago Hair. I saw a gal named Teresa and she spent a good time talking to me about highlights and a haircut and seemed to be very knowledgable. In the past I have had a really damaging service to my hair. Teresa insisted on not putting more highlights into my hair, but instead lowlights that would brighten my blonde. Wow! She really knew how to pamper my overstressed hair, and give it the balance it needed! Everyone in the salon was friendly, it was an overall great experience. I would highly recommend Teresa for your next color service.

I found Liz when I moved to CO and I chose them because they had the only website that mentioned that their stylists have ongoing training. It was a great criteria because Liz has never let me down. The whole staff is fantastic and always works with my crazy schedule. When I had to leave town for a family emregency, Liz actually came in on her off-time to ensure I was taken care of. It was excellent customer service in a very difficult time. She always makes relevant product recommendations and indulges my whimsical hair attitude. I can't recommend her and Chicago Hair enough. Can I give her 6 stars?
